Description
Overhauls the Religion System.

Beliefs are permanent modifiers to a religion, there's no limit to how many beliefs you can have, except for the founding Belief which grant a building.

All Beliefs can be seen in the images above.

You spend Faith to unlock new Beliefs; once you've founded a religion.

Each time you unlock a new Belief the cost for the next Belief go up by 10% you can disable and change the amount in "Doctrine_ReligionScreen.lua" at "IncrementCost".
You can change how much each Belief costs in "BeliefCosts.xml"

Missionaries, Apostles, and Inquisitors are the only available religious units, all others have been removed.
There's now a limit to how many of each Religious Unit you can have.

You can only have 1 Apostle at any given time.
Inquisitors are limited to 1 per 2 Holy Sites.
Missionaries are limited to 1 per Holy Site.
You can change this in the bottom of "Doctrine_CanPurchaseReligiousUnits.lua"
If any player exceeds this limit the overflow units will be removed from the game without compensation.
I've added a blocker that disables the buttons to purchase religious units if you have too many of that unit in the production panel, couldn't get it to work for CQUI, so look at the Religion Screen to check if you are at the limit or not.

Theological Combat has been rebalanced :
Inquisitor > Apostle > Missionary
Before : 75, 110, 100
Now : 120, 100, 75

Additional Changes :
  • Missionary heal adjacent units like Medics.
  • Inquisition is now free, you don't need to use an Apostle to launch it. But you do still need a temple to buy Inquisitors.
  • No increase cost for buying religious units.
  • Limits Religious Unit movement to 2 from vanilla 4.
  • Apostles can't enter closed borders.
  • Changes the Max Religions per game to 7 for all map types not just Huge.
  • All religious units start with "Heathen Conversion" now.
  • All religious units can recharge Spread Charges if they start a turn on a Holy Site or Wonder in a City that follows the same Religion as them.
  • Apostles start with "Proselytizer" now.
  • Apostles start with 8 Spread Charges, Missionaries with 4, Inquisitors reduced to 2.
  • Replaced Free Guru and Warrior Monk with Missonary.
  • Religious units have various bonuses depending on what district they're on :
    • Apostle - Religious Leader : +4 Faith when in a City Center
    • Missionary - Local Preacher : +1 Gold when in a Neighborhood
    • Inquisitor - Inquisitory : +2 Faith, -1 Science when in a Neighborhood
    • Inquisitor - Dark Age Ideology : +2 Faith, -1 Science when in a Campus
    • All Religious Units - Writing Dogma : +2 Faith when in a Holy Site

Been doing some experimentation to get Archaeologists to be targetable by Inquisitors.

Might need more testing.


Known Bugs :
Some Beliefs do not work.
"Gospel" doesn't work.
"Godly Depictions" Doesn't work for mines without bonus resources.

Does let me thing civ v where you had heathen conversion and your whole empire in unhappiness spawns barbarians which you convert.:steammocking:

When this mod still worked it was brilliant, but since the NFP content and patch releases it no longer works when it comes to purchasing new beliefs and then having them work correctly.

And frustratingly there is currently nothing on the Workshop that comes close to replicating what this mod was doing in terms of customisation options, functionality and intent.

Would be great if I was skilful enough at modding to get it working again as Oni intended, but unfortunately I'm not gifted or skilful at modding so it is beyond my abilities.

Such a great idea and such a good overhaul. Pity it's not being maintained (and presumably would have plenty of code or mod conflicts) but thanks for making this for those back in the day.

@( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I'm currently not playing or modding Civ6 so no, can't remember if you can remove them in the xml files of the mod.

@thecrazy13 It's a scaling issue when dealing with lower resolutions, i hadn't been able to find a solution when i was working on the mod.

i like your mod but when i play and open the religion panel (after founding a religon), the "My religion" panel and the "Purchase beliefs with faith" panel are overlapping on each other. Also, i can't see some beliefs (because they aren't in the panel), even if I have changed the UI size dimensions in the files (like you explained).

Do you konw how to fix this ?

(sorry if there is some errors, i'm french and i have some problems to speak/write in english TwT)

Thanks for this. Fixes a lot of problems I had with Civ 6's religion system (including all the unit spamming).
