Description
This reskin is based on the livery carried by the DJ class locomotives currently serving with Dunedin Railways.

The Southerner was a passenger train that ran down the eastern side of New Zealand's South Island, running from Christchurch to Invercargill. It was launched in 1971, and replaced the steam-hauled South Island Limited. Some DJ's were repainted in this distinctive blue livery especially for the Southerner.

Over the years the Southerner was also hauled by both DC's and DX's. Sadly the service was given the axe in February 2002, bringing an end to passenger trains south of Christchurch (not counting heritage railways).

These days Dunedin Railways operates a small fleet of DJ's on tourist trains in the Dunedin and Oamaru areas. All of these engines are painted in a slightly updated variant of Southerner Blue.

The number carried by this reskin is that of a real DX. In the case, it's KiwiRail's DXC 5327.
