ET-8

Description
In 1961, an experimental all-terrain vehicle with an 8x8 wheel formula on pneumatic rollers was developed. The machine was intended for the transport of goods and people in complete off-road conditions. The experimental tractor did not receive the end-to-end number, which all NAMI designs received at that time, but only the ET-8 designation. The machine was designed with a load capacity of 8 tons. The specific pressure on the soil was 0.4–0.9 kg / cm, which is comparable with caterpillar movers. Each wheel provided contact with soil with an area of about 1 m^2. The pressure in the pneumatic rollers could be adjusted from the cab.
The preliminary test results of the all-terrain vehicle in complete off-road conditions, on viscous soils, swampy meadow, swamp flooded with stagnant water at a depth from the water surface to the planting cover of more than 1 m, indicate the presence of ultra-high cross-country qualities. In all of the listed driving conditions, the all-terrain vehicle not only maintained stable motion in low gears without slipping or stopping the engine, but also developed free traction on the hook from 6 to 9 tons. The high degree of passability of the experimental model of the all-terrain vehicle did not allow it to be compared with all-wheel drive vehicles of high cross-country ability due to the fact that the latter should be subjected to comparative tests in completely impassable areas for them. Therefore, it was advisable to evaluate the technical and economic efficiency of introducing this model of new technology into the national economy when comparing it with tracked all-terrain vehicles.
After the all-terrain vehicle was finalized in 1963, it received the NAMI-094 index. The prototype NAMI-094 is the same 8x8 all-terrain vehicle on pneumatic rollers. However, the carrying capacity was not already declared not 8, but only 5 tons. The total mass of the all-terrain vehicle was 12,600 kg.
