Already one of the most popular women on the WWE roster, Becky Lynch's support hit a new height in 2018 as she feuded with Charlotte Flair, and after defeating her for the Smackdown Women's title, declared herself "The Man" in the custom of Flair's famous father, Ric Flair and his phrase "to be the man, you have to beat the man." Along with her new nickname, Lynch took on a rougher, more abrasive approach which caught on, and carried her to a victory in the main event of Wrewstlemania 35.
