Description

The Birch gun was the first practical self propelled gun and also the first SPAAG, it was a tracked steel hull which mounted an 88mm 18Pdr gun on a 360 mount with 80 degrees of elevation. The concept was a massive success but was rejected by British military leaders due to nothing more than beliefs that such a vehicle was unnecessary.
