A well liked, reliable mainstay of the Intercontinental and tag divisions of the 1980s in the WWF, Tito Santana had multiple reigns in both divisions. Billed from Mexico, Santana grew up in Texas, playing football with Tully Blanchard.

Santana defeated the Executioner in the opening match at the first Wrestlemania event in 1985 and had memorable feuds with Macho Man Randy Savage and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, while he both teamed with Rick Martel as the Strike Force team, winning the tag titles, and later feuded with Martel. In the early 90s, Santana was given the El Matador gimmick, but didn't see the same level of success that he had in earlier years.
