Rustic Buildings

Description
I did not think the normal wood and stone walls were not suitable for the barn I wanted to build for the animals my company had tamed. This mod was my solution to that problem.

All of the items are built at the smithy. They appear in a folder named Rustic, nested under Structures. Most are granted by the Secrets of Building skill, the same one that grants the normal wood walls, so they do not require spending any additional points. The only exception is the lighthouse lamp, which is granted by Esoterty of Building, since that is the skill for the standard lighthouse.

A complete list of all the items in this mod, with their types and spawn codes is pinned in the discussion section.

While the items appear different than the standard ones, they generally behave the same and can be used interchangeably with them. Many of the meshes are very similar, although I usually reduced the polygon count and simplified how materials are assigned. Others have little in common with them except the same overall dimensions. All of the textures are ones that were available in the dev kit, with a couple minor changes to contrast and saturation.

The item called Rustic Window works like a door. The appropriate size will automatically be chosen to fit the opening it is placed in. The Rustic Glass Ceiling and Rustic Glass Wall work like ordinary ceilings and walls, but look like large window that do not open.

The smokestack is an element I made because I wanted my workshop to have a more industrial appearance. It does not look like one, but it is defined as a pillar.

I also made pillars that look the bottom part of floor pieces. When building on uneven terrain, these can be snapped under ceilings to create a supporting foundation of any height that matches the floor pieces. This will work with any square ceiling, but only with the triangle ceilings in this mod. The standard triangle pieces have broken snap points for pillars, which I fixed in mine.

The foundation wall was an earlier solution to this same problem. It is not as nice, since it does not provide any support, but it will remain since some structures may have already been built with it.

All items can now be painted. Except for the block walls, each piece has one to three of the following areas:
1 - Inside walls
2 - Outside walls
3 - Wood (except walls) and trim on smokestack top
4 - Not used
5 - Metal (hinges and handles)
6 - Mortar between bricks

I was not satisfied with the standard Atlas lighthouse, since the whole thing is one element. To allow making lighthouses as buildings that can be entered and climbed, I added the lighthouse lamp. This emits the same light and uses the same fuel as the standard lighthouse, but is small enough to be placed in a building.

There is a limit on how close two lighthouses can be. This same limit applies when placing a lighthouse lamp. While the lamp checks for both other lamps and standard lighthouses, the standard lighthouses do not recognize my lighthouse lamp, so it is possible to place a lighthouse close to a lamp if the lamp is placed first.

The block walls are simple structures that color well. They were designed for recreating some of the distinct patterns real lighthouse have. Besides the solid color walls, there are types that are split diagonally, so the upper left half can be a different color than the lower right. These can be used to produce the spiral banding seen on some lighthouses.

For painting, the inside and outside of the block walls is the opposite of the other walls. While consistency is desirable, I found colors 1 and 6 were the best combination for avoiding a visible border between the two halves of the spiral walls.

1 - Outside wall - Solid and upper left
2 - Inside wall
3 - Window and door trim
4 - Not used
5 - Not used
6 - Outside wall - Lower right

>>> ATTENTION <<<

If this mod is not present every time Atlas starts, anything built using the elements from it will disappear. This can happen when there is an update to the mod, even if you do not change the list of mods yourself.

This is a consequence of the way Atlas has been designed and will be true for any mod that adds new structures. Checking that all of your mods are in the active list and there are no update messages before starting Atlas will help avoid this, but it is a good idea to back up your game regularly so you do not lose any work in case this happens.

So this mod just stopped working on my G-portal server. The folder of Rustic is gone under the structure tab in the smithy, is anyone else having the same problem?

I can't seem to find a discord but we love using this mod! The textures as well are great :) Is there anyway to get open source coding and textures used? Would love to have the textures for planks.

would it be possible to update the stone structures in this mod to have the same resistance as normal stone? i have mobs damaging the stone walls as if the were wood. they should not be able to damage the stone.
