Description
Game Dev Tycoon: The DLC Expansion by KewlFish.

Description:
The DLC Expansion is a tweaked version of the New DLC Mod and, while it will play similarly to that mod, there are some fundamental changes that causes these two mods to play very differently.

FEATURES:
- DLC is Now Fan-Based - In the previous mod, the amount of money that you earned was determined by how many units you sold. While this works well for self-published games, there were some issues that arose whenever you would do publishing contracts. Now the amount of money that you earn is based on how many fans that you currently have. Basically, the way I approached this feature was that just because a bunch of people bought your game, it does not automatically mean everyone would buy the DLC; your fans however will almost always buy anything you produce.

- New Rating for DLC to be Successful - In the previous mod, I felt that it was a tad too easy for your DLC to be successful. I adjusted the rating that your games need to reach for DLC to be successful, but it is still very doable.

- Adjustments to Money Earned and Fans Lost - There were definitely some balancing issues in terms of money and fans in the original release. If your DLC was released with a score that was too low, I did feel that the fans lost was a bit too severe, so I made some adjustments and you will still lose a significant number of fans, but it should not 0 out your fans. How much money you earned for good DLC also needed to be tweaked. After doing some calculations, it turns out that games in Game Dev Tycoon gain you about $7 for every one unit sold. In the original DLC mods, the amounts for the various DLC types (New Character Skins, New Items, New Maps and Levels). Were $3, $5, and $10 per unit. So the highest DLC would technically be more expensive than the original game itself. I went and found the real life percentages that DLC is of the original game price, which is generally about 5-10%. Now the DLC is much more realistic in terms of how much you earn.

- Game Date - A feature I wanted to add was that DLC would not be available until the 7th generation of consoles, however after extensive testing the function just would not fire once the date would appear. I refer to DLC ingame as 'Post-Release Content', in the early '80s, '90s and '00s, Expansions packs were quite common so it still works. Because fans are so important, you probably will not make alot of money with DLC until you get a large number of fans.

March 28th, 2020 Update:

After some play testing, I think I may have squashed the bug causing your fans to 0 out if you clicked yes to wanting DLC but then decided against it. It will still act like you had post-launch content but you will earn 0 money and 0 fans unless you click on one of the various options of DLC. If someone comes across this bug again please let me know, but I did not encounter it when I tested it out.

NOTICE: Unfortunately, it looks like UltimateLib broke after the most recent Game Update, which I would assume renders this mod unplayable. Thank you all for playing while it lasted.

Steam is saying this requires ultimatelib, but from what I read it sounds like ultimatelib has become obsolete and no longer works. Is this not true?

I agree with the Jedi Master below. DLCs seem like a nothing-burger mid-to-late-game.

the mod is amazing, but the fans lost when the DLC is bad is greatly exaggerated and the money earned should be more at higher levels
