Spires of the Black Sun (V.1.0.1 update!)

Description
DISCLAIMER:This map contains dark themes (although arguably not anything darker than what's already in the base game) and at least one (optional) area with flashing lights.

"...A dark sun looms over a desolate world with only but the last few remnants of life. It is a world devoid of light, and nearing ever so closer to its end...

Until one day, a sparkling artifact fell from the sky, an artifact of unknown power. The residents cling to a small glimmer of hope, believing that this artifact could possibly save them from extinction...

Except that not too long after the discovery of the artifact, an outsider had unfortunately been enlightened of the situation and is now set on taking the artifact for themselves...

Could they spell doom for the planet?"

Hey everyone!

This is my first try at making a map, but I wanted to try something a bit more ambitious than a blue time rift. The level is pretty linear for the most part except for one branching path and a couple secrets...

In order to complete the level, you'll need:

Dweller hat

Hook badge

and either Ice hat OR Timestop hat for the branching path.

(also, you're probably going to need the Seal the Deal and Nyakuza DLCs to play this in the first place...)

I worked a lot on this map and hit some bumps along the way, so I hope that there aren't too many issues with it...

but more importantly, I hope you enjoy!

Known bugs in order of appearance (spoilers):

-The three mafia bullies at the bridge do not go back to their initial spots when provoked and then left alone.

-The bullied NPC at the bridge sometimes calls for help while you're already in the middle of helping them.

-The cardboard house in DownTown flickers when viewed from far away.

-The second electrical line spark at the thunderstorm doesn't move.

-Spiders are unintentionally easy to jump on.

-Ninja cats don't like having custom skins and default to their usual colors.

-The boss' Nyakuza cat minions sometimes jump really high in the air when too far away from the player, resulting in them T-posing until hitting the ground.

My personal thanks to TheGreatAndPowerfulWeegee, JawChewa, Dr. Treefrog, Starschulz, Jarl Balgruuf, Crash, and the rest of the aHiT Discord for helping me with making this map. I couldn't have done it without you guys!

...So far there's only one Time Piece, but I'm hoping to add more content to this mod (and hopefully fix those bugs) in a future update, so stay tuned!

"not darker than anything in the base game" i haven't tried this map yet but from the base game i find the subcon forest tree hookshot things to be pretty dark. they are talking about how much they love to hang you

The map was really good. The clouds, lightning, obstacles. However, after killing the invisible nyakuza cats the fight hung and the elder just kept shooting missiles forever.

I'm not sure what kind of epic pro gamer you expected to be playing this (I wonder if you even played this map yourself, honestly), but the optional area and the boss fight are just asinine. The rest of the level was fun and enjoyable, aside from there not being enough checkpoints. I enjoyed the atmosphere and dialogue, too.

The map leading up to the bossfight was fun, but the bossfight itself was absolutely PECKING RIDICULOUS. Between the camera, the disorienting particle effects, the sixty trillion pushy birds IN ADDITION to the absolutely buckwild bullet hell, the fact that you have to sit through that entire conversation each time you die... I couldn't even do it with assist mode. Might be able to do it if I combine the astronaut helmet mod with the RYNO II mod and cheese it to hell, but by that point ya might as well just quit.

The fixed camera as others mention just doesn't do justice for bosses like this. Too much to focus on, easy to lose HK in the chaos. Also overall just harder to gauge what you're doing when you're literally a speck on the screen. Fine map otherwise

What the two other comments said--map itself as swell, but i legit didn't even try the boss a second time.
