While the design of several creatures in Dark and Light had interesting designs, I and many others thought they didn't make a lot of sense in form of functionality. They felt off, had mechanics that didn't make sense, or just felt like they existed in a very buggy state. I feel most of these were due to Snail's harsh treatment of the DnL Devs and the rushed production, so I figure: Why not take a load off them for a bit by basically fixing most of their creatures for them?


This mod remaps several creatures in the base game. It SHOULD replace any pre-existing creatures with their modded counterparts. The main reason/changing behind these remaps is actually balancing or bug fixing. Several creatures were glitchy in one way or another (animations, functions, etc), so I decided to fix most of these to overall improve quality of life and play-ability of the game. The aim of difficulty of this mod is still vanilla-themed. If you play ark, think of this as my Dark and Light version of Kraken's Better Dinos. However, I will only be touching critters I feel need this change (Bug fixing or general improvements). Most of my creatures I plan on touching are in the mod's initial release (modding DnL is hard granted the buggy and out-of-date dev kit!), and only a few more are after in the patches to come.

This mod also adds ark-styled tranq arrows. They come in tier 1, 2, and 3. They're equivalent to the Tranq Arrow, Tranq Dart, and Shocking Tranq Dart of ark in effectiveness. Tier 3 even slows the target on impact.

They were originally in their own mod via a map extension which gifted the arrow bps to the player's inventory directly, but it appears the DnL dev kit is so obsolete you can't have a NPC Remap mod (this mod) and a map extension (My tranq arrows mod, “The Invasion” map extension). Since my subscribers wanted to use both, I brought the arrows into this mod as admin spawn-only.

Use the codes provided to give yourself the blueprint for the arrows.

When this item has been gifted to the player, craft the arrows by putting the blueprint in your hotbar and using the hotkey to craft the arrows with your resources in your inventory. Admins can give the blueprints by putting them in a chest or inventory for others to get (the BP's disappear when dropped!)
