Description
You may have heard of the Atlas V, but you probably don't know of its original origin. The rocket that got John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra, And Gordon Cooper to be the first Americans in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) is now in Stormworks!

Info:

In the Space Race, Russia made Yuri Gagarin the first man in space making Russia win the race. But America was willing to go farther than LEO, to the moon. NASA was one step ahead of Russia, even though they lost the race to orbit. They launched Alan Shepard into a Sub-Orbital flight on a Mercury Redstone. After Alan flew, Gus Grissom took the ride of his life on a Mercury Redstone as well. NASA wanted more than Sub-Orbital flights and searched for a vehicle to get man into orbit, and they chose an ICBM. That ICBM was the Atlas D, which they converted into the Atlas LV-3B which was safer for human spaceflight. NASA removed the nuclear warheads and ICBM guidance systems and replaced them with the Mercury capsule that previously flew on Redstone rockets. Now, with orbit in mind, John Glenn was placed into the Mercury capsule and left LC-14 in style. Three men went to orbit on that same rocket, and everyone survived. Then NASA, with the knowledge they needed, searched for the perfect plan for "Landing a man on the Moon by the end of this decade and returning him safely to the Earth" and started practice with the Gemini Program.

Stormworks Info:

As always, this LV (Launch Vehicle. rocket in laymen's terms) is a full 1:1 scale model of its real life counterpart so you can appreciate how small it was compared to the rocket that descended it (Saturn V)

Features:

Launch Effects (Smoke, fire, engine flare).
LES (Launch Escape System) so you don't die if your engine explodes.
Cockpit view (not detailed, sorry).
Full Staging
Pretty freaking far range (I don't know how far yet)

How to Launch:
1: Climb the ladder to the top and equip the space suit (Deep diving gear because the cockpit isn't air tight and you will likely drown on splashdown)
2: Press F on the pilot's seat to enter the Mercury Capsule and then press the button on the ladder to retract the swing arms
3: Close the capsule door and sit in the seat.
4: Throttle to full and press 1 to launch
5: Wait for boosters to activate
6: When you leave the ground, it will tilt to the right slightly (fixed??)
7: When the boosters shut off press 2 to separate them
8: When you reach the desired altitude or deplete fuel somehow press 3 to disconnect the Mercury pod from the Atlas
9: Activate LES to get rid of the booster by pressing 6 (working on a button to launch it away on its own)
10: Activate parachutes when you get to 500m
11: Somehow be rescued because i couldn't afford an aircraft carrier to come help

How to use the Launch Escape System (LES):

1: Press 6 at any time to send the Mercury away safely
2: Activate the parachute and land safely

Future Features:

-LC-14 to launch from
-Stability system
-Re-entry Control System (RCS)

Likes and favorites would be nice but aren't necessary because i don't like demanding likes out of you guys.

Just realised that if you spawn this in a forest fire it could put it out due to the water lol.
