Nice. I know that there exist programs to extract textures from the ram of a running game. Is that what you used? Does it show file path information or vehicle names?

No for herby, purple and were both looking thru bag files for unrecognized vehicle names, one of the files listed 12_european as not having upgrades. so I made my number grid skin, blank normal and blank specular files and put them under 12_european with a vepa and voila! I found the Buggy.
Knew Purple wanted Herbie, so I did a quick and dirty herbie skin and custom vepa, and he liked it. It's not perfect - the stripe is a little out of line across panels.
Later, when i decided to try the outlaw, I took those files I made to reveal the buggy and put them under 30_american. then the outlaw had the number grid skin.



You would have to have the correct unpacking algorithm in order to make 00_wreckfest make sense in hex, I'd assume. It's probably packed with some kind of security hash.

So for Herby, you just tried a skin to see what changed? Great idea. Did you try 12_American too or both? I know exactly what ya mean. Great idea. I thought I could find the folders thru the '00__wreckfest__' file in a hex editor but I couldn't find anything.

The last picture shows the number grid (with herbie .vepa) applied to 30_american - that's how I found out that it was the outlaw

yeah we looked into bagedit files to find any references to vehicle names we didn't recognise, then i put a number grid (10 x 10) on a 2048px by 2048px targa file. that way i found which car's skin changed. that's how we found the buggy and outlaw. the grid was useful for placing graphics as well.

I guess use the (number)_(region) vehicle name for any missing car numbers and test with a skin or maybe just a vepa to see which car it shows up under. I might do that tomorrow. We could put a list of all found car names on purps discord template page.
