Subtle Balance

Description
The purpose of this mod was to add more “subtle” changes to each civ to make them faithful to the original design while making them better. I increased the strengths of weaker civs to make them more conducive to their original design. Most of the overpowered and top tier civs are unchanged. I wanted to make this mod so you can full random your civ choice and be happy with what you got, without the play style of the civ you got being different.

Go for it. I will not lie that back when I originally made this mod that I was inspired by watching filthyrobot play.

Hi! I'm making my own subtle balance patch. Could I please use some of your ideas and some of the code since you don't really have any plans to work on this mod anyway?

Yeah, they're still not great. Game is still imbalanced even with the mod but at least now I don't roll my eyes when I random as some civs are pretty close to having no bonuses with how useless they are. When I made the mod I could not figure out how to do code changes so most everything is number changes in the lua files. I don't really have any plans to work on this mod more as I haven't played civ 5 in a few years. Maybe liberating city states from venice and austria could be its own mod if it is easy? I feel those Venice has a hard time enough as is so don't need more reason to beat them up.

I dont know if this is still in development but in case, th buff to sweden would really not be enough to make it even a "good enough" civ, because its biggest struggle is the unique ability which is basically useless and goes in favor of a diplomatic victory and against its unique units that very much (by being 2) support a military victory and in no way help to get a diplomatic one

Also if possible make it so the citystates annexed by Venice and Austria dont lose the "city state flag" so you can liberate them

Confirming that Samurais can now build fishing boats. Thanks for the update.

Better late than never I guess. I have fixed the Japanese samurai to properly build workboats. I also have made the available at all ages in the game.

Sadly, the Samurais are bugged and cannot construct fishing boats.

Nah aztecs building is one of the best in the game. its 15 % growth is 1 of 2 buildings that calculates TOTAL food and not excess food (artmis is other). With any river or lake tile this building makes a war civ a growth / science civ. Actually broken building.

Japan is still weak yes. Morocco the tile improvement is fine but trading for culture is still worse than trading for food interally. Russia is a solid faction with no major weaknesses, Siam is op if you get city states, just hard to get them with no abilities geared for it, songhai prob does need a buff to base ability.
