Description
Toll Rail was a short-lived rail operator in New Zealand, owned by the Australian company Toll Holdings. TR lasted just five years from 2003 to 2008. The first locomotive to be repainted in Toll Rail colours was DX 5379.

Their livery is often the subject of criticism from railfans, as it is a slightly unsightly combination of pale yellow and a blue-ish green. This combination has given rise to the livery's nickname - Corn Cob. The curved stripes are my least favourite part of the livery, as they detract from the overall look of the locomotive. If my research is correct, these were the locomotives that were repainted in the Toll Rail livery:

No EF class electric locomotives ever received the livery.

In July 2008, the New Zealand government bought the rail network back from Toll Rail and renamed it KiwiRail. The unveiling ceremony for the new state-owned company was held at Wellington station on the 1st of July, with DXB 5143 in attendance. In the first few years of KiwiRail's existence, the locomotives that retained the Toll Rail livery simply had the logo removed and replaced with KiwiRail stickers. The only exception was DAR 517, which was retired before receiving the KR stickers.

Today the vast majority of engines that received Toll Rail colours are no longer in said livery. The last mainline locomotives to retain the livery were DC 4830 and DXC 5356. The latter has since been repainted in KiwiRail colours, while the DC has been withdrawn and scrapped without ever receiving KR colours. Interestingly, there are still at least six shunting locomotives that retain this livery:
