Mike's Allied Radio Expansion V2

Description
Mike's Allied Radio Expansion V2

This expansion adds to the in-game radio the greatest hits of American music from 1940 to 1945, with a total of 698 new individual songs. This new music can be enjoyed by starting a new save file after enabling the mod, and having your radio operator receive any allied radio station, such as New York or Gibraltar.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Neither version of this mod will function if you subscribed and enabled it on an existing save file!

IN ORDER FOR THIS MOD TO WORK, YOU MUST START A NEW SAVE FILE. IF YOU DOWNLOAD AND ENABLE THIS MOD, THEN LOAD AN EXISTING SAVE FILE, IT WILL NOT WORK.

In addition:Unless the developers change the way custom music is added, this mod will function regardless of game version.

The launcher will list the mod as outdated for no reason other than a mismatched game version number in the mod's files, which effects nothing. The music will still be recognized, and the proper folders edited, no further work required. As long as you enable the mod properly as detailed above, it should work indefinitely, regardless of game version.

Additional Information:
This is V2 of Mike's Allied Radio Expansion. The only difference between V1 and V2 of the mod is as follows:
V1 utilizes the .MP3 file format for its music files, whereas V2 utilizes the .OGG file format for its music files.

The V1 .MP3 format version of the mod has some minor playback issues. Sometimes the radio will glitch out, and quickly cycle through the first few seconds of a song non-stop until you turn the radio off, then back on again, at which point it will play normally until the bug occurs again at random.

The V2 .OGG format version of the mod solves these playback issues, but with a potential drawback. The .OGG file format seems to take much more effort for the game to load. As the pack contains 698 songs, the game can stutter or momentarily freeze while it loads the music files in. I'm unsure if this issue occurs each time you boot up the game, as I cannot reproduce this effect on my end.

So either you get a minor playback issue with the .MP3 format, or you have your game stutter and freeze for a few minutes as it loads in the gigantic song list. Pick your poison, not much I can do about either problem, hence the two separate versions. V2 is the preferred version as it uses the format recommended by the developers of the game, but both versions should continue to function indefinitely as they do currently.

If you post in the comments saying the mod is broken and didn't read the description, I will most likely point at you, laugh, and call you an idiot. You have been warned.

If you want to open up the mod's file and sort through nearly 700 songs, then cross-reference them with a list of public domain music regarding each specific recording of every single song , you're free to do so!

some of it has to be in the public domain right? not all of it.......

That'd basically be asking me to just delete the mod. All of the music this contains is like, real music from the 40s. So, sorry but no.

can you make a streamer safe version that is copyright free?

This mod is fully compatible with the 1.0 release of UBoat. You can safely ignore the outdated warning in the game launcher.

Probably.

I'm glad you like the mod! With the radios having an actual use for morale in-game, I just had to expand on the selection of music. I love the big band tunes of the 30s and 40s, it's such good music.

But yeah, let this serve as a lesson for the future, always read the description! If you'd done that, you wouldn't be stuck without the mod right now ;)

Damn... I'm already in a IIA campaign and it doesn't work on a save file...
I LOVE your mod it's a must have.
But as I play in 100% with no map contact, mission are much longer (not in real time but in gamer's time), say at least 3 to 5 times longer (and 10 times more interesting), and I can't restart at this time.
Damn again... ^^
