Description
Pears Motor Works proudly presents the PMW Deep Space Exploration Vessel Nautilus (mkII). This new version of the Nautilus was commissioned by captain Nemo for the January Anvil designers challenge, hosted by Xcaliber.
This mid game exploration vessel has a big hangar, that can fit 3 or 4 small SVs, and a few medium sized HVs on the deck below. It can handle a lot of cargo and is very able to fend off the dangers that lurk in deep space! It has a Tier1 shield and a steel hull, sentry guns, flak turrets and 30mm cannons.
The Nautilus is an all-round, early spawnable, explorer, built with upgrades in mind. But it is also more compact than it's sizeclass indicates. A secondary cockpit is installed in the production lounge, keeping all the most used devices compactly situated around 1 elevator next to the hangar. There are 2 maxed out cargo systems and plenty of other forms of storage options aboard. Most thrusters can be reached/repaired from inside the vessel.

A lot of RP value (main reason the sizeclass got so high for the actual size). Every ramp is automated. Turrets retract to clear the HV ramp. There are plenty of options to install more thrusters or replace turrets for higher level ones. Under the warp core is quite some space still available (filled with lag shot protection).
In the core room you will find 2 deco's that you can easily switch out for T3 or T4 extenders. Same principle in the generator room. In the hangar is a spot to install a repair bay. There is about 20.000 CPU points left to spare in the current Tier2 configuration, for eg. an extra constructor? If size class becomes an issue; remove some (exterior) lights. There is plenty of space in the hangar for an extra constructor and a few boxes. Extra thrusters are probably easiest set up there too.
A signal circuit has been set up for extra thrusters aka; heavy lift mode. If you assign these extra thrusters to the "HEAVY LIFT" signal they are linked to both the switch in the cockpit and in the P menu. The low drag mode retracts all turrets that can be retracted. Emergency switch to activate alarm lights. Grow lights are installed, the grow plots are not installed, to make the factory shopping list easier. Same goes for extra thrust, spawn her in early and as you are collecting more resources and weight, you can add more thrust to your own needs and pace.

Features:
- 2x maxed cargo systems (640.000 units total)
- 40.000 units ammo storage
- lot of extra storage space

Based on the Nautilus submarine from the 1954 movie of Jules Verne's 20.000 Leagues under the Sea book. (and the now closed similar named theme park ride in Disney World Florida)

Made for the Anvil January design Challenge, hosted by Xcaliber; rebuild of (one of) your first/old build(s). I did a remake of my first CV, the Nautilus, which was a trollish quick build I did on a server, in game back in Alpha 5.

join in on the fun, no contests, just exchange of ideas and see how people interpret these challenges.

PMW also made a lvl 7 all-round scout POD for this vessel, that fits nicely in the hangar and is great for early game:

This little level 17 fighter was made to fit the hangar too, has plasma to counter shielded POI's

A medium level HV tank is in the making! Its based on captain Nemo's car/limo in the movie: league of extra ordinary gentlemen, has hidden turrets and will fit in the hangar.

PMW wishes you safe explorations into the unknown!

I actually found it, the two staircases near the farm are not airtight so I added thin panels outside to seal them.

@lordgraytiger sorry I missed this comment! there has been an update on the oxygen system since this was built, I will try see whats causing the leak, Im guessing a half block is now passing air somewhere.

I love the ship, but when I tried to use it there was no oxygen inside except for the captain's quarters. The 'n' oxygen menu only shows oxygen in the area around the ventilators. Is there perhaps a block somewhere that o2 is leaking out? I haven't been able to find it.

mm if you upgrade the hull, T2 shield, forward rockets and upgrading some turrets: torpedo attack, to sweep by having the side cannons open.. could work maybe.. if you dont know how to, hit me a msg on the discord, its 10 mins work for me

I am ecstatic over this, but I would love a T4 battle version *wink wink*

thanks guys! hope you enjoy it!

@lapis You can submerge this, but underwater the vehicles are not really functional in this game.
also, you need very deep water to be able to :)

Can you submerge this or is it just look?
