[ EVENT ] RP_Buttes_Sandyspace

Description
Welcome to the Sandyspace iteration of the GM_Buttes map!

This is my first and definitely not final version of the map that was stable enough to release for public use. This is my first real contribution to the workshops map category since my release of the Phenomenal Galaxy map, and I was only the guy that managed the commission for G-Realms and then Phenomenal Galaxy at the time. Please be patient with me if it seems like things are below your standards, I will exceed expectations for this map in the coming months. I hope server owners and sandbox players alike can both find a use for this map and I look forward to reading your feedback and suggestions.

I am open to making edits of this map that caters to any era of star wars (or Halo I guess), just please understand that I wont do server branding under 99% of circumstances. Please add me on steam or contact me through discord for details.

A fully featured Arquitens Light Cruiser created by Cody Evans

  • Interactive shooting range with 3 difficulty settings

  • Extra rooms for whatever you want
  • Landing platforms that are totally not lore friendly but definitely useful
  • Lockable airlocks, airlock C serves as a teleport between spawn room and ship.

The Rest
  • Designated spawn room outside the map to ensure reliable connections and safe environments for training cadets.
  • Linked Teleporter between the Arquitens Light Cruiser and the Spawn Room to allow for a seamless alternative to lua based tools. This is more reliable than any TP tool I have seen and strongly recommend that you use in most cases. By keeping the warp pad restricted to 5-6 people at one time I hope it will be seen as a benefit to Event Masters/Game Makers as they can count on players not being able to rush from Event Start to combat.
  • Fantastic ground AI nodes retained and improved upon from the original iteration of GM_Buttes.
  • Basic implementation of an Admin Room above the skybox that allows with the push of a button the creation of striders at four locations across the map. Striders are able to navigate to most locations at ground level with the mountainous terrain planned later.
  • Tatooine styled village featuring three buildings, a static tower, and walls.

Planned Features
  • Expanded Strider node support to make them feel more functional than they are now. I specifically intend to focus on the ability to traverse more terrain, triggering special attacks like the use of their gravity cannon, and potentially having it so they get dropped off by a combine dropship rather than just pop into existence.
  • Combine Gunship support and Combine Chopper support to make “boss” battles feel more immersive, especially when it comes to PVE environments.
  • Some kind of base(Place of interest) either in the mountainous region or down by the lake. I had created a factory for that purpose but I wasnt a fan of what the end product was going to look like so it was removed for this release.
  • Maybe a focus on expanding the maps potential as a base map rather than just being an Event map. I'll have a section in the comments specifically where I would like any ideas of this focus to be put.
  • Night version
  • Horror version
  • Removal of CSS dependencies on the surface through the use of equivalent or better textures that I would need to be permitted to use.

  • A huge thanks (and majority of credit for this map) to Bigwig for the creation of GM_Buttes. It's been a staple in the community since he released in 2012 and I honestly can't believe that this was created so long ago. Hopefully he knows how many awesome experiences his work has provided over the years.
  • Gateway Gaming for allowing me to use their server environment as a testing ground for my works in progress. They have played a large role in helping to define what would make this map more useful to the intended SWRP playerbase. Additionally theyve helped flag other maps that are in a similar state.
  • A final thank you to Exatol[github.com] who has been maintaining the Compile Pal utility over on github. He patched a bug I was facing while trying to pack assets into any of my maps. Without his help this edit would still be in my WIP folder.

im still getting some pink textures and missing buildings any help i also sub to the requied items

Update incoming for this map and my other 3 event maps. Changing up required resources and fixing v1 issues. gm_buttes is now rp_buttes and I have gone through and changed its required resources as well. The Arquitens resources are being moved into an additional addon that will be set as required for all maps that have it improted. This will make it so yall arent re-downloading half the resources.
