Nick Bockwinkel

Nick Bockwinkel was a four-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion who started wrestling in 1955 after training under the legendary Lou Thesz.

Bockwinkel wrestled alongside his father, Warren Bockwinkel, for NWA territories during his early days before breaking out onto his own as a singles star.

After joining the AWA in 1970, he initially teamed with Ray Stevens. With Bobby Heenan as their manager, Bockwinkel and Stevens won the AWA World Tag Team titles three times. After the team broke up, Bockwinkel stuck with Heenan, and their partnership led to to multiple AWA World Heavyweight titles, the first of which coming in 1975 against Verne Gagne.

Bockwinkel retired in 1987, and he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
