Description
Welcome to Maizuru Bay! This map is inspired by an area of the same name in Japan. However, I did not attempt to reproduce it 1:1. There is enough building space for a larger city, but I recommend the use of 25 or 81 tiles.

Road connections: 4
Train connections: 3
Ship connections: 2
Plane Connections: 4
Suitable area for building: 50%

Trees:
My goal for this map was to create a beautiful forest area. Hence I planted even more trees, than I usually do on my other maps. Within the center 25 tiles, I am more or less satisfied with the density of the forest. Towards the map’s edges I still had to decrease the tree amount because of the limits. There are c. 820,000 trees on the map, which leaves almost as many as the game’s default value for you to plant.
For all large forest areas I used pdelmo’s low poly trees, which not only look better than the vanilla trees (in my opinion) but are also better optimised. MrMaison’s trees I used only on some selected spots to add detail. Therefore the map size is still reasonably small and not much stress should be put on your GPU.

Sewage:
I added a water drain pipe to the start tile to point out the location of a waste water drainage in the bay. You can either use it directly by connecting it to a pipe system and electricity, or demolish it and build your own. Another drainage is located in the tile adjacent north of the start tile.

Rail:
I decided to go along with the Japanese setting and use Ronyx69’s wonderful Railway Mod with Shinkansen tracks. With more than 40,000 subscribers, I figured that the chance is high, you are one of the persons already using this mod and tracks. If you are not, I think it’s well worth it. One of the best mods ever made for this game. If for some reason you don’t want to use it, you can subscribe to it once, load the map in the editor, upgrade the rail network to vanilla tracks, save it and unsubscribe from Railway again. If there is a demand, I might release a version with vanilla tracks.

Please make sure to subscribe to all the assets in the map collection and to also activate them in the content manager.
The map collection seems to be a bit longer this time, but a lot comes from Map Theme suggestions and Railway Mod dependencies. See the map collection description for more detail.

Used mods and settings as seen in the screenshots:

Base Theme: Laviante 2.0
Oil: Coosbay Theme
Ore: Alps Dolomites Theme
I included the Theme Mixer 2.0 settings in the map collection.

Ultimate Eyecandy v1.5.2:
Global light intensity: 5.0325
Ambient light intensity: 1.006

Relight:
Brightness: 0.85
Gamma: 0.8
Contrast: 0.7
Temperature 0.5
Sun Temperature 0.8

LUT: .RelightFilm

Sharp Textures
Tree LOD Fix
Tree Movement Control

The first five screenshots are using different cubemaps and slightly different Relight settings. The other screenshots are made with the settings that I would suggest for playing.

Sure I wouldn't do it any other way. 😁

@Ventru I don't mind if you change the roads and upload it to workshop. I would appreciate though, if you mention me as the original creator. Thank you!

Great map. Would you mind if I change the roads and rail to SimoG roads and rails. My plan is to remove mod dependencies and replace it with assets. I would like to upload it to steam workshop as a backup for my local version.

This map is godlike. It throws me back to my time in Japan. Great work.

Really enjoying this map. I'm guessing you used the Forest Brush mod to put trees on the map? Is there any chance you've saved the brush preset you've used? I would love to know the trees used & brush settings so I can easily fill in landscape once I'm done placing roads - this way the trees look just like part of the natural map. Thanks!

@ares416, i can only imagine some other mod interfering with the necessary mods. You could try deactivating all mods except those listed in the map collection and see if the problem still exists.
For the other two comments with problems, I assume not all mods/assets from the map collection where activated

I have a weird problem with the highway leading into the first tile. There is a bridge, then a drive, then a highway with a road entering the other side of the drive. The cars heading into town all pause like they are yielding when the road turns into a highway. They should be accelerating but they don't and they are slowing down the traffic. I tried different fixes on the traffic manager mod but they still are pausing, any idea how to fix this?

Great map! But I don't get any outside train connections.
