HISTORY
*********************************************************************
Taking lessons learned from the Constitution class Battlecruiser during the Revolutionary Era, the Concord class Strike Cruiser is a state-of-the-art Capital ship still in development with the Free Citizen's Republic Navy. It has been conceived to be the center piece of a strike group, accompanied by Norfolk class Cruisers and Virginia class Destroyers on deep space search and destroy missions. Alternatively, it can act as a heavy escort to Independence class carrier groups.

The spaceframe of the Concord is slightly smaller and has less armor overall than the Constitution. However, a more strategic armor allocation scheme, the integration of defense shields and nanite repair systems gives the Concord the ability to endure significantly more damage than its predecessor.

Despite the smaller spaceframe, the Concord's weapons are better laid out which allows for a much heavier broadside barrage over more firing arcs. The Concord also sports a spinal mounted Atlas Super Laser, which can disable comparable ships at range in a single blast. Combined with the ability to carry and launch ground attack dropships and troop APCs, the Concord is in every way superior to the venerable Constitution it's slated to replace.
