Solution #1
1 -> Configure graphics settings in game first (Disable "FSAA" if you are using SweetFX)
2 -> Locate C:\Users\Public\Documents\TimeGate Studios\FEARXP\settings.cfg
3 -> Open "settings.cfg" with notepad and change the "ScreenWidth" and "ScreenHeight" values to match your native resolution.

NOTE:
After doing this do not change any "Display" settings in game.

Sorry to necropost but @Lord Apyr thank you SO MUCH for actually saying where the original documents folder was stupidly put on Windows 11 lol Trying to play this for my channel and I was having conniptions thinking I was being a blind idiot when half of people found the folder and half of people never did. XD

There's an even easier method,

In advanced launch options Do "+ScreenWidth XXXX +ScreenHeight XXXX"

I found easier solution for original and both expansion:

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1813-fear-collection-small-font-fix-by-deus-and-montonero/

You'll need 7z archiver to unzip file (password is pcgw).

For F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point you need to copy file FEARL_1920.Arch00 to folder FEARXP (path ...\Steam\steamapps\common\FEAR Ultimate Shooter Edition\FEARXP). In same folder, edit Default.archcfg in notepad and add new line at the end: FEARL_1920.Arch00

While using the launch command -userdirectory FEAR_User. My settings cfg was in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FEAR Ultimate Shooter Edition\FEARXP\FEAR_User.

Just changed my screenwidth, saved, opened the game and now its working. If you can't find the folder in documents maybe you could try this method.

@KLACKaGAT
Back in 2013 when i made this guide, i don't think 4k resolution was that common so i'm not sure!

I have a monitor that has a resolution of 3440x1440 ultra wide and when i edit the cfg file with the resolution it doesn't work. I launch my game and the menu still has black bars on the side and the resolution didn't change. it worked for the first fear game fine but idk why its not working here.

I cannot locate this file. I have hidden files enabled and I searched high and low. Even just settings and config folders and it just doesn't exists. I believe I modified my search parameters correctly since all my games are stored on (D:) and not C but I still can't find it.
