Basics
Beast Taming is possible with Giselle's ability Tame Beast. The ability has a range of 3 and will taunt the target beast. It can be used to tame any beast (besides Draki) of rank Epic rank or lower. With the Mastery Monster Taming, you can tame beasts of rank Legendary or lower. Beasts tamed in challenge mode will have their level lowered to it's normal level.

After using the ability, Giselle will have to wait for some action time. That time is equal to 10% of the beast's current HP + (2*(The target's level - The tamer's level)) with a minimum action time of zero. This can be halved with the mastery set Monster Trainer. Challenge mode will keep this calculation, but the beast you get will have its level reduced to its pre-challenge mode level, after you tame it. This time cannot be reduced or increased with anything else that changes action time and using abilities like Kylie's support protocol awaken on Giselle will cause it to fail. If the Beast is damaged in ANY WAY during the taming, then the taming will fail. It will also fail if the beast goes out of sight or put out of action. Giselle being stunned, frozen, confused, Starlight Prison, Sleep, Hibernate, or put out of action will also cause taming to fail. Abilities that prevent actions like Starlight prison can be used to prevent a beast from moving or acting. After you are done taming, it will be the tamers turn.

Taming has a cooldown of 5 turns , but you can use reload to reset its cooldown. Catharsis can be used to reduce both of their cooldowns, and One Shot One Kill can help you get another action against weaker enemies. Even though Action time reductions do not work on reducing taming time, the reduced action time may help you catch more beast if you are trying to catch a lot in one go.

When a beast is tamed, you will be able to choose from 4 random (Pretty sure no Training) personal masteries (6 with the mastery set Monster Trainer) for the beast to have at its current evolutionary phase. Personal masteries that are restricted to certain beast(s) will increase this by 1. An example of this is Luminescence, which will give you 5 choices one of them being Luminescence. If the phase is not the first phase (usually Growth Phase) than all previous personal masteries will be randomly filled. Beast can retrain all of their masteries except for Genetic masteries or an ESP masteries. It costs 20 Training manuals and some Loyalty to retrain a beast. The amount of Loyalty consumed seems to be influenced by the number of masteries changed, but it is not consistent.

Beast use Loyalty instead of ambition. When the beast's loyalty is lower than 50%, it will be rebellious. This will cause the beast to gain a stack of Arbitrary Judgement each time they take an action. If a beast with this state is unsummoned, they will not be able to be summoned for the rest of the mission. At the beginning of its turn, it has a chance equal to its stacks of Arbitrary Judgement to acting on its own. When the beast takes damage, it has a chance equal to its stacks of Arbitrary Judgement to leave the battle. When you dismiss your summon, it has a chance equal to your stacks of Arbitrary Judgement to further decreasing loyalty by 1. Meekness is between 50% and 80% loyalty. Meekness causes the beast to do 20% more damage against enemies that have attacked the summoner. Above 80% loyalty will cause the beast to be loyal. A loyal beast will have the same benefit of meekness, it won't fall if the summoner is put out of action, and when the summoner goes out of action will cause the beast to trigger overcharge and frenzy. Loyalty will raise by 5 for each successful mission it was summoned in. If the beast is unsummoned it will lose 1 loyalty each time. if you lose a mission it was summoned in, it will lose 5 loyalty. Beasts stored at the Beast Keepers will have their loyalty increase by 5 every mission, until their loyalty is 80% or higher.

Rage is consumed when using some abilities, and beasts start with zero when summoned or at mission start. Rage has a base maximum of 100, and it has 10 base rage recovery. The beast can gain or lose rage based on certain actions and it's rage recovery. If a beast's attack is blocked, it gains 50% of it's rage recovery as rage. When an attack hits, gain rage equal to 100% of it's rage recovery. When an attack crits, gain rage equal to 150% of it's rage recovery. When the attack put an enemy out of action, gain rage equal to 200% of it's rage recovery. Each time the beast takes damage, gain rage equal to 100% of it's rage recovery. When the beast takes a non-combat action, lose rage equal to 50% of it's rage recovery, unless you have a rage buff. Anything that affects vigor or vigor recovery affect rage and rage recovery in the same way, respectively.

Any Valkyrie Coins used on mastery boards for Beasts can be refunded by releasing the beasts.
Capture Draki
The only tamable Draki is the Draki Hatchling with Eggshell. They can spawn from Draki Eggs after the buff Hatching expires. Nearby draki eggs can get this buff from the Queen Draki's ability Roar of Hatch or if the Queen Draki is put out of action, all draki eggs will get hatching. This can only be done on the Level 44 Violent case Draki's Nest on normal mode or higher. Hatching will take 90 action turns to expire (1 turn). After it expires multiple baby draki (including Draki Hatchling with Eggshell) will hatch and immediately take their turns. The Egg Shell Baby Draki will run away with the debuff death this will put them out of action in 4 turn. Since the first turn is taken right away this will give you 3 turns or about 270 action time to capture them. Since they are Level 4 with 193 Max HP the taming time should be 0. If you are quick, you can catch at least 2 Draki Hatchling with Eggshell with the use of reload, and with catharsis and One Shot One Kill, you could Tame 4 of them in one go.

In the 54V Iron Forest Secret Base, There are 2 Black Eggshells in the Southeast corner of the map. You can hatch these using a Roar of Hatching. Draki Queen and Storm Draki Knight both have this ability. Hatching these eggs have a chance to spawn Draki Hatchling from the Black Eggshell. You can cpature this just like the Draki Hatchling with Eggshell. This can be evolved into the Mutant Draki line, or the Darkness Draki line. This is currently the only way to get to the Mutant Draki line.
Evolution Basics
After a beast reaches a certain character Level and Class level 16, They will be able to evolve (If they are not in the mature phase). This will have an additional cost of some sort of material that will be shown in the evolution menu. After you choose your evolution and evolve, you will be able to pick your next Personal mastery from a group of 4 random (any type) personal masteries (this is unaffected by Monster Trainer, but adolescent Draki will have an extra mastery available Flight/Scale Armor for Normal Draki/Draki Knights). The beast's class level will also be set to 1 after each evolution.

Restricted Beast Summoning
Sometimes you won't be able to summon beasts. If you capture a Legendary beast, you will also need Monster Taming to summon it. If you raise a beast into a Legendary beast, you will NOT need Monster Taming to summon it. Beasts have the rank of the rank shown on their troublemaker page (Elite beasts will always be Normal rank), so raising a Rainbow Dorori into a Big Rainbow Dorori will cause that beast's rank to change into Legendary, but you can never get an elite version of any beast. Also, you won't get the stat boost that enemies get for their rank, but you do count as your rank for getting bonuses from masteries. Tima, Dorori, and Crabmit can be summoned in any case. Yasha cannot be summoned in the rain. Negoori cannot be summoned in a cold wave or a heat wave. Draki cannot be summoned in a cold wave.

Environment Adapt and similar abilities cannot change this, but there are a few basic masteries that can. Heat-Adapted Beast can make beast able to be summoned in a heat wave. Cold-Adapted Beast can make beast able to be summoned in a Cold wave. Rain Beast allow beasts to be summoned when it rains. There is also Moonlight Beast that allow beasts to be summoned in the evening, at night, or in dark indoors conditions, but no beasts have this restriction currently.
Suggested Masteries and Mastery Sets
Masteries:
Monster Taming will allow you to catch all non-Draki beasts that are of Legendary Rank or lower, and allows you to summon your legendary beasts that you caught when they were legendary (you won't need this if you raised the beast to be legendary).

Beast Trainer will give the beast 10% more EXP per level that the beast is lower than the summoner

Catharsis to reduce the cooldown of Tame Beast and Reload

One Shot One Kill for Catharsis combo.

Mastery Sets:

Is there a difference between capturing a normal or an elite version of the base evolution? I noticed that the elite that I captured doesn't keep the elite tag as a tamed beast.

Monster Taming is dropped by Jeff. Jeff spawns in the level 36 story mission at Crow's Ruin and level 39 violent mission at Blue Fog Distribution Center G at normal or higher difficulty.

How do you get the monster taming mastery? I looked over the general mastery guide... Couldn't find it
TargetPractice  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 5:53pm
You don't need to lower a beasts HP at all to tame it, but lowering its HP will lower the time spent taming a beast. The total time you will spend on taming a beast is equal to 10% of the beast's current HP + (2*(The target's level - The tamer's level)) with a minimum action time of zero

If you want to look at builds, there is a link to the discord channel, in the guide description, where there is a channel to post them, and it has another to for discussing them. I don't like posting builds to my guides, because it feel like I'm saying that this is the only way to build them. I, so far, have posted one build in all of my guides, and I only posted it, because it can help to get some of the harder materials in the game.
