Description
You are not ready.

The comfortable sense of security of always having your portal gun at hand... The convenient sturdiness of weighted cubes... Have you been taking those for granted? Looks like you need a reminder that in this life, all things are fleeting.

Fleetingness is a series of maps that combine portal buttons and futbols. This third instalment started as a remake of the last room of Fleetingness #2, inspired by Konclan’s and Nock’s playthroughs, but as things evolved it turned into a completely different, crazier puzzle. Playing the previous parts before checking out this one may be useful.

Notes:
- Futbol throwing is required. However there is no need to build momentum or anything like that, just aim at the wanted direction and press E.
- The narrow hallway marked by the life preserver signage is a full reset. It's only useful for anti-trapping, and same goes for the pedestal button next to the futbol holder with no connections.
- No glitches, cube tossing, tight timing or other shenanigans are part of the intended solution.

Estimated difficulty: 8/10

The music is Halted Production from the Portal Stories: Mel soundtrack (composed by Harry Callaghan).

All credits for the portal gun on/off concept go to FLooper and tuleby (CZ).
All credits for the futbol go to Valve and TeamSpen210.

Huge thanks to bullfrog and Dark Rozen for playtesting, finding exploits and overall helping improve the map!

Absolutely amazing and beautiful logic. It took me roughly 3 and a half hours to beat this map. Each step and each move and constellation is excellently thought out. I would be interested in how long it took you to come up with this.

Heeey, you made it! That's quite an impressive feat, well done!

I didn't confuse the futbols most of the time, and once I did, I created a quicksave and destroyed one or pushed a button to see where it came from ^^
I'm gonna push another button now, and it's called "favourite" :-)

I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed the experience, even though such a convoluted map inevitably causes some frustration during the solving process and requires some mental fortitude. In those times, it helps a lot to take a break, like you did. I hope you didn't lose track of the futbols too often, I do wish there was a way to colourize them just like cubes! Anyway congratulations for beating them, that's no small feat and it shows you have great determination... and patience! That's the kind of map I'm not sure I'd be able to solve, if I hadn't made it myself! XD

I tamed the beast ^^ Never did I play a map before in which I wished for two or three quicksave slots XD
I was in for three hours (first session) and tried a lot of stuff with only little progress. Most of the time I was looking what was IMpossible to find the possible things ;-) ... I was getting out of ideas and took a break, fearing that what I had accomplished was only half the story or less. Turns out that in my second session I was done after an additional 40 minutes! Man was I glad. Very rewarding finale woo-hoo!
The map shows the ending move pretty clearly so I was sure it was necessary to get both items out of the left room . This basically began at my three hour mark, the rest was plain sailing, surprisingly.
After a frustrating start which made me lose faith in myself, the map turned out to be pretty enjoyable. It's a thumbs up and even close to a favourite (the jurors in my head have yet to decide ;-)
Btw I'm fine with the 8/10 difficulty rating.

@NLuziaf
I get your point, but on the other hand, playing a series in order seems like the logical thing to do. I won't deny this is still a monstrosity, however! Glad you enjoyed it anyway, and sorry but I have no idea what playlist this is :P
NLuziaf 7 Sep, 2022 @ 8:57pm
My honest review:

This chamber is a monstrosity, why? Because this chamber requires me to play the previous "Fleetingness series" chambers to JUST get some basics to the puzzle, which will take me more time if I haven't played it yet.

Overall, this chamber is a very great chamber (to make streamers suffer /jk) and I favourited it.
I'm coming from "Brainfucc: THE PLAYLIST".

@Mr Fab
Thanks for the nice words, and congrats on solving this beast! I saw you played it live, shame that I missed it, I followed your Twitch channel so hopefully I'll catch one of your streams some day!
Thank you also for uploading it to YT, I'll watch it when I have the time :)

Oh boy that was hard ! I didn't do everything the intended way too.

But I loved it, the moves are smart, the design is pretty and it was so satisfying to beat the puzzle

Big :steamthumbsup: and favorited !
