Diabetes [discontinued]

Description
This mod adds diabetes to the game with all its downsides to add some variety and difficulty to the game.

CONTENT
  • New Illness: Diabetes
  • New Symptoms: Hyperglycaemia (over sugaring) and Hypoglycaemia (under sugaring)
  • New Drug: insulin
  • New Implant: Advanced Insulin Pump
  • New Food System: Food has a "sugar" value

This mod introduces a new illness: Diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus (DM), commonly known as diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders characterised by a high blood sugar level over a prolonged period of time. - Wikipedia[en.wikipedia.org]

Diabetes mellitus lowers or stops the body's production of insulin.

This causes hyperglycaemia, also known as over sugaring or high blood sugar, when energy is consumed in forms which need to be broken down by insulin. A high blood sugar can cause many complications, like tiredness, heart suffering or even dearth.

Synthetic insulin can be produced at the drug lab with some neutroamine.

Insulin lowers the blood sugar. Although a very high blood sugar can be life threatening, the same applies to a blood sugar level which is too low. This so called hypoglycaemia happens commonly if insulin is overdosed. The result of that is increased hunger, loss of consciousness and rapid death, if the body is not supplied with enough sugar and energy.

HOW IT WORKS
When a human or animal has birthday, they can get diabetes mellitus by chance.
Now every food they consume is converted into sugar (nutrition with random factor) which raises their blood sugar and therefore the severity of hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia can only be treated with insulin, produced with neutroamine at the drug lab when researched like other drugs. Insulin, like in real life, is very hard to dose, so overdosing is very common. In case too much insulin was ingested, the severity of hypoglycaemia will rise. Hypoglycaemia is treated by eating any kind of food.

TO DO
- new insulin pump on industrial level, needs insulin supply
- better sugar system if possible

KNOWN ISSUES
As it would be otherwise too much work, ANY kind of food will have a sugar value, even if it's not real-world-logic.

No known incompatibilities.

@sniper_snowwolf
I fixed that issue, thanks for mentioning :)

@LITTLE PRICK
Sorry for that, didn't checked it. I reduced diabetes upcomings, very greatly on younger pawns.

Wow. This looks like a lot of fun.

Great mod. Love it! The only thing I'd recommend fixing or changing is disallowing pawns from giving insulin to wild animals. They keep using up all my insulin stock and its a pain early game before researching medicine production.
