[LWOTC] A Better Arsenal

In 1 collection by Scuba Steve
[XCOM2] A Better Start | Rookie | Arsenal + (LITE) Mods
22 items
Description
A Better Arsenal for Long War of The Chosen
Buffed weapons, armor, mods, and utility items to damage, protect, last longer, and have more of it.

Commander while you spent the last couple of decades marinating in your own juices our engineers in munitions have made lethal advances in weapon design and development. Right from the start your rookies will wrap their hands around the grips of weapons with LETHAL potential.

A Better Arsenal seriously upgrades the your weapons, nades, gremlins, etc to an insane degree. New clip sizes make reloading irrelevant and adds a few extra shots to single shot guns and items.

If the weapons don't remove the threat after first blood then we have upgraded our armor to make most engagements survivable.

*This mod works at all gamelevel difficulties.

Under The Hood
To list the specifics of all the changes would mean dumping the entire XComGameData_WeaponData.ini and ain't nobody got time for that in the mod description. So let me sum up...

Weapons
  • weapon damage was increased by +2 to +4 across the board
  • aim was given to all weapons with the heaviest doses going to sniper rifles and lower numbers on shotguns and LWG (Lite version - minimal aim was given in all cases as to make sure gun mods remained relevant)
  • a bump to shredding was given to conventional and mag weapons while piercing was given to mag and beam
  • clip sizes for all weapons were increased by +2 to +30 (Lite version - clip size increases kept low to keep gun mods needed)
  • minimal crit chances were added to all weapons and followed the same curve that LW2 gave to short range weapons
  • increased the mobility boost given by LW2's SMGs by +2
  • grenade dmg, range, and radius adjusted
  • Special DLC weapons were adjusted with increases to dmg and added moderate crit, aim, and use count due to their uniqueness.
Armor & Items
  • health was added to all armors and vests by +2 to +6 hp
  • added a mobility bump to most all of the armor types

DIY Modding
If there are aspects of this mod that you hate or things you wished were just a bit more buffed, then open the file(s) below in a text editor and scan through settings. My mods are nothing more than configuration file overrides with no coding. A word of caution about editing the downloaded files in your workshop directory. If I ever update this mod your changes will get replaced with a fresh copy of my files. I recommend copying the modified file to another folder that you can swap back in after an update.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\2047458777\Config\ XComGameCore.ini XComGameData _WeaponData.ini
*This is assuming your running windows and steamapps are on your c:\ drive.

Long War of The Chosen [LWOTC]
If you have been frustrated by not being able to find the actual LWOTC mod on Steam you are not alone. LWOTC devs are still building it and have not yet released it on Steam. If you want to try out my mods with the new BETA LWOTC you can follow these links to download and install the latest BETA release.

Long War of The Chosen install instructions: Installing LWOTC [github.com]

The install instructions provide an easy link to download the BETA v2 release which is out of date. You can get the latest release notes and download here: Releases[github.com]
*Thanks Online Addict

Note: If you use AML for loading your mods testing has shown that my mods and likely others will not load after the locally installed LWOTC. If you do not want to wait for the production Steam release of LWOTC you will need to copy my mods to the same local directory you installed LWOTC in (per instructions). Then in AML select the local versions of the mods and not the workshop versions.

Just so you know, global stat changer allows you to configure weapon damage, clip size etc...

Unfortunately, mod seems borked still even after they removed the launcher and were back to using the original mod launcher. Mod definitely needs to be updated

I litteraly used this mod once as of late with LWOTC, and it broke my game mod launcher to the point I had to reinstall it. How it broke, was after I first used it, when ever I launched the game again with LWOTC, even with it on it's own, the mission objective would not show up, softlocking me half the time, and set missions would just crash the game. DO NOT USE WITH LWOTC!!

For those who can't make "A better" mod works with LWOTC:
1/ copy the mod in your local Mods folder (see comment below some guys explain it very well)
AND
2/ don't forget to add the local mods folder in AML under Options/settings/Mod directory

I think most people (including me!) who could not make it work forgot to tell AML to actually look for the mod locally.

idk how to mess with the autopistol, vektor, or bull pup but none of these fixes helped so i just gave up and put the weapon data from the better arsenal config in my LWOTC config folder and now it works. Y'all are psychos if you think the average person is going to put in 2 hours of work to fuck with ini files on a cheat mod
SFC Red 28 May, 2022 @ 2:34pm
so i cant get them to work

@Grishnak

For me it seems like all items from WoTC are not really treated correctly. Not only Bullpup and Vector.
But can be easily adjusted in an hour or two itself.
Has something to do with the fact that some things in LWoTC are found under 2 categories

BullPup and Vector e.g.
[XComGame.X2Item_XpackWeapons] and
[LW_WeaponsAndArmor.X2Item_FactionWeapons]

The author merged them into one so they don't work under the wrong category.

I just put the XComGameData_WeaponData.ini from LWoTC and the same ini from LWOTC_ABetterArsenal(LITE) next to each other and went through it from top to bottom.

Everything looks right to me now. Except for the BeamGrenade Launcher that does not work properly for me even without ABA.

My current Ini of the Lite version I have stored at Pastebin. Is also quite easy to switch to full if you want that.
