[Scripted] Love Letter Premium [EN]

Description
I was unable to find this particular version of the game in english with original art here ... and because I have a copy at home, I took it upon myself to fix that :)

Game features:
  • Players: 2 to 8.
  • Game Time: 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Ages: 8+.

Workshop item details:
  • High definition cards
  • Pdf rulebook included
  • Named individual cards
  • Lovely heart-shaped tokens ♥
  • Scripted setup (optionally, can be hidden and played as normal)
  • Sycophant markers

Game description:
Love letter premium is designed for the person who loves love letter. All new extension to the game enables play for up to 8 players. Special heart-shaped affection tokens are also included. Love letter premium is a game of risk, deduction, and luck for 2-8 players.

Designed by Seiji Kanai, the game features incredibly simple rules that create dynamic and exciting player interactions. Players attempt to deliver their love letter into the Princess’s hands while keeping other players’ letters away. Powerful cards lead to early gains, but make you a target. Rely on weaker cards for too long and your letter may be tossed in the fire.

This is my first workshop contribution ... hopefully I did everything right :)

First of all thank you so much for the great work, I just want to propose a new deck for 1-4 players which includes the cards from the expansion. The basis is from this reddit post: [ https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/642hzc/rules_for_24_player_love_letter_premium_using_the/ ].

These are: Bishop, Princess, Countess, Dowager, King, 2 Prince, Handmaid, Sycophant, Baron, Priest, Cardinal, 3 Guards, Assassin, and lastly a Jester. Totaling to 17 cards for the 1-4 player deck.

This allows for the newer interesting cards to be used even when there are less than 5 people playing.

That might be a bug of tabletop itself. Try verifying integrity of your game cache. I'm not doing anything special (script-wise) with cards that are moved back to the table from outside the zone (not sure if it's even possible) and from what I tested, I couldn't reproduce the bug from what you described.

Haha, thanks MeanMachine for the kind words and thanks Knaughx for the inclusion :). It's my first time doing anything in LUA so I am sure the code could be better and more clean. It warms my heart nonetheless to read that what I made helped you improve your mod :)

Hi RedEye, many thanks for such an amazing version of this game (definitely worth making it into the 'best mods' list from Knaughx) - not only do my friends massively enjoy playing it (all the hassle of not being face to face is removed, it does what a mod should do well - which is you forget you're not playing in real life) but I must confess I've also spent a while picking through your scripts to understand how you did such a top job.

I've used that knowledge to improve the scripting on version of Gravwell that I've been gradually tweaking - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2065979642 - so you've done me two good things, thank you!

Hi, wanted you know that your mod has been added to my collection: Board Game Geek - BGG - May 2020 - Best Mod for each of the Top 500 Rated Games. Collection here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2086043930

The collection used this priority system:

1. Mod's Files Availability: Mod with all/most files still available for download
2. Feature completeness: Mod with greatest inclusion of expansions and/or promos available for the board game title
2. Scripting: Mod with scripting that most reduces work in setup/play for players
3. Component Quality: Mod with the best visuals/usability in terms of component quality
4. Table Setup/Ambiance: Mod with the best immersion with table, background, and other modeling.

Please also note that a mod that makes selection for this list very well could be one in which the mod author borrowed the majority of assets from another workshop listing, so full thanks to all who worked on a mod.

Thanks for your hard work!

@RedEye: thanks for the info. And good job on the game.

@[PhD] Tyburn Dancer, Hi, they are not, however I experimented with scripted turns when I first added the scripts (I didn't like it) and as a side effect, I saved "Custom turn order" to the workshop, which caused this really specific bug :D I uploaded a new version that should have this fixed :)

Hi, we've tried this game on hotseat and we can't manage to change turns, it seems to be stuck on player 1. Are the cards scripted in any way that we are we missing something?

@MeanMachine[MC1], glad to hear you like it :) I updated the mod so the jester token and sycophant markers should not bother you anymore when you play a game for 2-4 players :)
