Description
Very hard. Difficulty 8/10 for experienced players. Not for novices.

Greasy Handshake is the introduction map for this one. You should probably play it first. Click this text to go there.

This map is an expanded remake of my map Greasy Doorknob. I was never really happy with that map. This remake has added much more to it. If you played the prior version, this remake should still pose some significant challenge.

No cube-tossing, no ninja skills, no fast-timing or difficult moves. No bunny hopping, no reportal, no glitches. Everything is easy to execute if done in the intended manner.

The splash caused by gel bombs being popped by player/cube has been disabled. If splash occurs from the player/cube popping a bomb, that is not intended.

You can only open a portal on the floor/ceiling half surfaces when you are inline with them the long way. You can open a portal on the wall 1/2 panels from any angle.

The bars on the portal surfaces are spaced apart so that the player fits easily but cubes will not fit through them.

The portal surface high on the wall in the main room that is marked with life-preserver and mechanism signage is only for anti-trapping. It is not part of the intended solution. If you shoot a portal onto that surface it will respawn cubes that have already spawned, close both portals, clean gel that might be cheated by the reset, and teleport you back to the center platform area.

The turrets cause super-damage. Don't try to blitz them. It won't end well. You are within their range when between the yellow lines on the center platform. If you pass through that area without hesitation they will not shoot you. The red turret aimed at the exit is fastened in place and cannot be picked up or knocked over.

In the interest of saving some potentially tedious and unproductive testing, I will mention that popping the gel with the laser is not intended. I have tested it extensively and it will not help solve the map either.

The faith plates are shut off for 1 second when you first enter the area where they are located. This is to make it easier to drop through the portal over them without bouncing up and down repeatedly.

Cutout tiles are never portalable even if they are painted with conversion gel.

Huge thanks to Narkodes, Haru (可砸), and Nobody No-one for their help with playtesting and advice.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Cactos for the kind words and for the favorite! I'm glad you liked it. You would probably also enjoy Brass Boulders. It is similar in difficulty, logic, and design.

Mentallentil recommended this to me, so I went into this knowing it would be both really good and really hard. i solved this insane map in ~6 hours (first 8/10). I gotta say, this is one of the best maps I've played! I really like how the light bridge is used both to help you and to restrict you . Every part feels like a win, but my favourite may be painting with gel, which are done so well . Just like lentil, I managed to add a lot of unnecessary moves, but I didn't skip anything lol. Thank you so much for making this map, instant fav! :D

Thanks mentallentil for the kind words and the fav! I'm glad you liked it. It is a very challenging map and if you made it out without cheesing it, you get full marks regardless of whether or not you overcomplicated the solution. I definitely prefer to hear that someone overcomplicated it more than hearing that someone broke it. :)

Watched the solution video and it turns out I managed to add an extra move or two to just about every single sequence :steamfacepalm:
I think my favourite thing in this map is the double light bridge setup, it was really unique and a lot more useful (or not useful!) than I had originally thought. Again, great map and thanks for creating!

Just solved it after around 8 hours I think? This is definitely one of the best puzzles I've solved, and by far the hardest. Favouriting!!! :love_seagull:

Thanks smileyface888 for playing and commenting! It is a crazy map and anyone who solves it deserves to feel really smart! Don't listen to GlaDOS (even if she is right...). :)

Holy, this is an insane map that took me around 7 hours to complete. Felt really smart when I completed it though, but that was immediately ruined by GlaDOS telling me the test was meaningless. :steammocking: Great Work!
