Central do Brasil (Scandalous) - Blue (Phase 1)

Description
The V8 (paulistas) or Escandalosa (cariocas) was a type of electric locomotive built by General Electric, based on the EP-4 model built for New Haven, although its characteristics on the American railroad were different in terms of operating voltages, pantographs and tricks. While the American tricks were fused those of the Brazilian V8 were of the type of welded bars, lighter and easier to be adapted to the 1600mm gauge.

They had 3817 HP of power, a total weight of 165 tons being classified in the AAR standard as 2-C + C-2.

Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil:

A Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil purchased 15 locomotives in 1947 and 1948, which were incorporated into RFFSA in 1957. The Central electrified its lines and, originally the English Metropolitan-Vickers, would manufacture the equipment, locomotives and TUEs and install them. However, World War II made it impossible for the European company to fulfill the contract, which led the Federal Government to cancel it, and celebrating another with the consortium Electrical Export Corporation / COBRAZIL (Companhia de Metalurgia e Mineração Brasil), which had electrified the EF Sorocabana - formed by GE and Westinghouse. That was when the "option" for 2-C + C-2 came, a replacement of the original design for these - a design similar to CPEF's locomotives; but EFCB did not acquire the model by spontaneous and free will, the "purchase" of the machines was an obligation because of the American Board Production War, preventing the development of new products, but providing the equivalent and newly produced in the market so that meet the same goals. It is important to mention that, unlike Paulista (only bought from GE), Central had units like General Electric, but developed mechanically shared with the Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC); that is, Westinghouse was responsible for the electrical / mechanical part of 7 or 8 of the units. Both produced the 15 locomotives.

The nickname "Scandalous" comes from the facts:

- The loud noise of your compressors;
- The strong noise of the sharp swing that these loci made when they moved.
- They had three painting patterns:

The dark blue with a huge yellow band around the body of the locva. and starting at its nose, with the name "Central" on the sides of the same that was called "Yellow Papo". This standard came from the factory and was the main standard of EFCB.
The red with the predominant yellow also with the name "Central", already under the tutelage of RFFSA.
The red-and-yellow pattern Rede with the caption "E.F. Santos à Jundiaí" under the name 'RFFSA'.
The EFCB used them primarily to pull coal freighters for CSN in Volta Redonda. But because of the stretch of up and down Serra (Serra do Mar), between Paracambi and Humberto Antunes (district of the current Mendes) and their low adherent weight - essential for such a service -, the "Scandalous" did not do well in this case. The enormous tractive effort in accelerations and braking overheated the wheels of the Scandalous, taking off their rims, and taking it out of service. This was only resolved when EFCB replaced them with ALCo RS-3. They were then destined for Express Passenger Trains. They drove the famous Santa Cruz and Vera Cruz Trains from the 50s to the 70s, in which they did better and were more seen and recorded.

During the 1970s, 14 units were transferred to Estrada de Ferro Santos to Jundiaí. In 1982, 10 locomotives out of the 14 existing at RFFSA / EFSJ were transferred to Fepasa.

Of the remaining 4, 2 of them (2105/2111) were still kept close to Lapa's workshops for operational support service for suburban trains, although in practice they were almost never used, and the other 2 (2102/2108) were leaning against Jundiaí in the 1980s, in a poor state of conservation, being finally demolished in 1991/1992.
