K2-16 Fighter Jet

Story:
The launch of Space Battleship Jayu was successful, and she proved herself to be very capable of defeating Gamilon fleets. But the first victory came at a cost. Both her citadel and superstructure were in critical condition, and if the attacks from enemy bombers and fighers persisted even a half hour longer, Jayu wouldn've been defeated. Jayu is now in drydock for repairs. Realizing the problem, UKDAF started a new project called "K2". K2 fighters were already effective in the 5th World War, so only weaponry upgrades were planned.

K2-1 through K2-13 were fitted with jet engines and advanced weapons, and K2-14 and K2-15 was converted to K2-16. Since K2 is a old design and could only fly in atmosphere, UKDAF considered replacing the jet engine of K2-14 and 15 with rocket motors. That idea was scrapped after a fuel tank explosion mid-flight, causing 9 deaths. Head engineer Bill Kerman is now working on K2-17, an aircraft more suitable in space.
