Description
Welcome to the Wing Leader Complete mod by evildrganymede!
(NOW INCLUDES VICTORIES 2e, SUPREMACY 2e, BLITZ, EAGLES, ORIGINS and LEGENDS EXPANSIONS!)

Credits:

Wing Leader designed by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood. Most of the Image Assets here are from the original VASSAL mod by Al Cannamore (with some alterations by EDG) & used with permission. Wing Leader is published by GMT Games, available from them directly or from all good wargame stores (more info at https://www.gmtgames.com/p-673-wing-leader-victories-1940-1942-2nd-ed.aspx ). Note that GMT Games are aware of the existence of this mod & they are OK with it being made available in this form!

Notes:

This mod contains the board, player aids, and all of the counters from the physical version of Wing Leader Victories 2e, Supremacy, Blitz, Eagles Origins and Legends expansions - it does not include the Rulebooks or Scenario books (these are available online with lots of other WL resources in the Wing Leader Downloads section of Lee's http://www.AirBattle.co.uk website). Planes from the c3i scenarios are also included here. Note that this mod does *not* include any elements of the campaigns from the expansions. You really should own or have access to a physical copy of the game to play this TTS mod - if you don't & you enjoy the game then please support the designer & publisher and buy a physical copy!

ADCs for all of the planes are now included in the mod! They're in the little tuck boxes behind the hangars. Note that all of the Minor Nation ADCs are in the pale blue 'League of Nations' tuck box, but they also use planes that require ADCs from the Major Nations - you'll have to track those down from their boxes.

This mod is heavily scripted, but the scripts are only there as a way to get the labels onto the plane & ID counters. The labels are derived from the Name & Description fields (visible when mousing over or right-clicking on a counter) - these should not be changed as doing so will change the visible labels too. Loading these scripts shouldn't slow the game down.

If you don't like using TTS dice, I have included a Random Number Generator in this mod - this is the black wedge with the two buttons on it located above the dice next to the Sequence of Play on the board above the table. Left-click the appropriate button & the results will show up in the Chat Window on the bottom right of the screen. The wedge can be picked up, moved, & rotated like any other object if you want to put it elsewhere. Make sure you are not a Spectator in order to see the die roll results in the chat window!

There are now nine pre-set cameras for the things you're most likely to keep going back to, see 6th May Updates description for details! Note that only the Host of the game can use this - unfortunately TTS doesn't allow everyone to use the preset cameras. I'd recommend you set them manually to those views though if you are a player, as they are useful shortcuts.

The (custom-built) 3D Hangar models along the top edge of the board table contain all of the Plane counters from the game - *Planes are drawn & selected from them exactly as if using a normal Bag*.

The Hangars store the Planes for each nationality, as shown by the symbols on the side of the hangars and their labels - from left to right the large hangars are UK, US, USSR, France, then Germany, Italy, & Japan. The smaller hangers are the Minor Nations - Australia/New Zealand, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, the Spanish Republican & Nationalists, Poland, Sweden, Romania, the Netherlands, Finland, China, Czechoslovakia/Belgium and Hungary (note that Finland uses their post-WWII roundel, as the one they used during the war was a blue swastika! The Finns had actually adopted the symbol in 1918 as a symbol of good luck - far before the nazis perverted the swastika for their own use & into the controversial symbol it remains today - but I figured it'd be better to change it to avoid any potential issues there!).

The best way to retrieve Planes is to right-click the Hangar and Search for them. Note that Plane counters are stored according the nationalities shown on their counters, not according to their source ADC - so while Spitfires are UK planes (and most are in the UK Hangar), the Spitfire counters that have US markings are found in the US Hangar (similarly Soviet A20s are stored in the USSR hangar, not the US hangar). Note that while the Buffalo ADC belongs to the US, all of the Buffalo counters have UK markings so those are stored in the UK Hangar.

Do not copy/paste plane counters to create new ones, as each has a unique letter ID on it (stored in the counter's Description field). The letter IDs match the physical counters of those found in the base game.

ID Counters are in the coloured bags on the left sideboard, other counters are in the grey bags on the right sideboard. The counters shown next to each bag are solely to illustrate the contents of the bag beside them & are not usable themselves - if you want to use a counter then you must pull it out of the appropriate bag!

The Blue, Yellow, Red, and Green ID Counters (Red and Green are from Supremacy) are located in the appropriately coloured bags on the left sideboard. These counters can be copy/pasted as often as required in order to accommodate the number of planes in the scenario. There are 10 sets of ID, Alerted/Unalerted & Tally/Vector counters in each bag, and all are multi-state counters - their letter IDs are set by changing the State of the counter (right click > State > 1 to X):

- ID Counters are for Bombers only and range from S to Z (States 1 to 8) - their flip-sides have the same ID on them. If you have bomber IDs that are before S then just use one of the Alerted/Unalerted counters instead.
- Alerted/Unalerted counters range from A to S (States 1 to 19) - the darker top side is Alerted, the paler flip-side is Unalerted.
- Tally/Vector counters range from A to S (States 1 to 19) - the darker top side is Tally, the paler flip-side is the Vector.

The grey bags on the right sideboard contain all of the other counters, as shown beside them & as described in the bag labels. Hit Counters are multi-state & can be duplicated as required - changing their State (from 1 to 20) will change the number shown on front of the counter (the flip-side is identical).

Wing Displays and Player Aids are locked & cannot be moved. The Player colours are Green (left) & Brown (right) and use the Wing Displays on their appropriate sides (Player Colours are only used in TTS for "seating" purposes - there are no player hands or hidden information. You can change them to other colours if you want.)

The Sun counter is on the Sun Display on the board. The Turn marker is at Turn 1 on the board. The GCI counter is in the Misc Counters bag on the right. Combat Player Aids are on the board above the table. The 2 dice & the RNG Wedge are located on the top board, next to the Air Combat Tables to the left of the Sequence of Play.

Hopefully everything should be usable & make sense in the course of normal gameplay but if there's anything missing or not working, or if you have any other feedback then please let me know in the comment section below! Please do give it a 'thumbs up' rating & add it to your collections or favourites if you like it!

This mod is for people who have the game (and scenarios) to play online (otherwise GMT wouldn't have allowed me to post it), it isn't a way to get around buying the full game for free. That said, more scenarios are available on the airbattle.co.uk site that I mentioned in the description above - I leave those as an exercise for the player to find there.

This is great! But without the scenarios, its almost useless. The website only contains the base game scenarios.

Yes, when Supremacy 2e comes out, I hope to be adding any extra counters from that too!
gian schneider 19 Feb, 2021 @ 3:20pm
Great job !

Are you planning to add the elements of the 2nd edition of supremacy ?
Sparty 24 Jan, 2021 @ 12:59pm
Yeah, that's what I've been doing and it definitely helps for common things you use duplicates of.

Another way is to make a "bag" look like the counter it represents. That would involve a bit more work of course.
