Grander Stations

Description
Effects
This mod edits the 1850 and 1920 passenger stations. To be more specific, it...
  1. ...makes the station buildings open directly onto the station platform (no "spacer" platform in between). This works nicely with oppiesc's Modular Station Roof mods because it means that the modular rooves extend all the way to the station buildings. You can, of course, add in spacer platforms manually if you prefer.
  2. ...decorates platforms (places assets) dynamically based on neighbouring modules (the three main styles are "track on both sides," "track on one side," and "track on neither side"). This makes it possible to create wider passenger platforms that still look good by stacking 2 or 3 platforms side-by-side.
  3. ...adds gardens to make the space out front of the station buildings seem less empty / more grand.
  4. ...makes the 1850 and 1920 station buildings (other than the small side building) act as staircases (to the passenger underpasses). This means it is often not necessary to place stairs on platforms which sit directly beside station buildings.
  5. ...adds "Compact" versions of the Large 1850 and 1920 station buildings. These have the same building model but smaller gardens out front, giving them the same footprint as the corresponding Medium station buildings. (This can't be done for the 1980 station buildings as they fill their entire footprint)
  6. ...makes all these components available forever.
Known Issues
  1. Because I was only able to remove the spacer platform from the 1850 and 1920 station buildings (so far), their footprints are now different from the 1980 stations. This will only be an issue if you are in the habit of replacing your older station buildings with newer buildings as they become available. Fixed 2022-06-05
  2. Small and medium station buildings which are placed facing the seam between two platforms will not connect to the underground path network. This is the vanilla behaviour but might be unexpected if you are used to the mod allowing stairs
  3. Some module combinations give humorous results. For example, placing one of oppiesc's modular station rooves right beside a large station building can cause one of the roof support pillars to run vertically through the station's main entrance, and placing platform stairs right next to station buildings can cause the stairs to block the station entrances. The "track on neither side" platform decorations are also too tall for the standard roofs (but then would you really want a roof on a tree?).
  4. When a stairs module is added to a platform directly in front of a 1920 station, the railings are visible but the stairs are not. This is because the station building mesh includes the "spacer" patform (unlike the 1850 station). Fixed 2022-06-05 by editing stock meshes
  5. The pedestrain lanes that connect from station building interiors to the pedestrian underpasses were something I kind of rushed and therefore sometimes form rather unrealistic shapes. So far as I know, this won't be noticeable when watching pedestrians walk around, but I haven't tested thoroughly enough to be 100% sure.
  6. For the platform decorations to react dynamically, this mod must be loaded after any other mods which edit the station .module files (e.g. "Extended Station Configuration Options").
Adding/Removing
  • Adding this mod is "WARNING" because it shrinks the sizes of 1850 and 1920 station buildings (update occurs when the station is configured, not when it is loaded), which may break their street connections. The game won't crash, but it may be difficult to play.
  • Removing this mod is "CRITICAL" because doing so would increase the size of the 1850 and 1920 station buildings (whenever the station is next configured), which could cause collisions.
Update History
  • 2022-06-05: Major update
    • Removed spacer platforms for 1980 stations
    • Edited meshes for 1920 station buildings to remove built-in platform
    • Added "Compact" versions of Large 1850 and 1920 station buildings
    • Edited lanes for the extra platform spacer pieces that sit at the end of terminus stations so that they connect directly to station buildings.
    • Combined the 3 "station stairs" addons (1850, 1920, 1980) into one version which picks its form dynamically based on the platform it's placed on (de-cluttering the addons menu)
  • 2020-04-22: Fixed a small bug and updated to also change 1920 station
  • 2020-04-20: Initial release (changes only 1850 station)

@miyahara.nohiara Fixed this issue
@mati147014 The 1980s station now matches the others (no "spacer" platform). I haven't gotten around to decorating it - maybe one day.

I'm still waiting for 1980's station, I hope it will be updated soon.

@miyahara.norihara I noticed this too. It's a problem with the lanes not connecting between the building and the platforms. It will take some thought to fix and unfortunately I don't have time right now. But hopefully one day.

@nary_believe

It's a very nice mod. Thank you.

But there is one problem.
1850 (also 1920) Station.
When I create a dead-end station, the flow lines are not connected.
Passengers teleport from the station building to the platform.

I tried using only this mod.

I love the concept, but id have to wait for improvements to many of the known issues before I could use it
