The TALE of MOSSISSOBO

A very long time ago (1),
before the existence of seas and beaches,
before the existence of mountains and plains,
before the existence of streams and waterfalls,
nothing existed….
Nothing, except a vast and green plain,
a flat and monotonous plain….

Then came the Creator...
What’s his real name ?
No one, except him, knows him….
Let's call him Anupu “Merynetjeru” (2)
One day,
Anupu saw this vast plain.
So began to exist all that exists,
seas and beaches, mountains and plains,
streams and waterfalls, islands and lakes.
In truth, a beautiful country….
A country where a large river meanders (3)….

In these times of the Beginning
A magnificent mountain stood near the sea,
not far from the mouth of the river
not far from the sandy bayou islands…
Now, the Creator judged that this mountain wasn’t in its place, so close to the sea.
Already, there were so many mountains in this beautiful region…
Then the Creator leveled the beautiful mountain, leaving only a low hill….

However, this mountain had a soul,
A spirit lived in it ...
Mossissobo “Born of the Beautiful Mountain” (4).
Deprived of his mountain, both his mother and his home
Mossissobo got angry and decided to take revenge
His revenge was terrible….
He forbids the Creator to return to this country (5)
Never again Anupu would have the right to return to it, never again….

But the Creator had an idea
He went back in time
He went back the day before,
The day when the Beautiful Mountain still existed (6)….
Then, a second time, he leveled the mountain.
But, before, he made a promise to Mossissobo.
The promise to give him a new home,
To build a home, where the mountain stood, his mother ...
However, the Creator was late in keeping his promise.
He had a lot of work.
He had so many trees, so many bushes, so many reeds to replant (7).
The hours passed and Mossissobo still had no new home.
After a night and a day, Mossissobo still had no home….

Sneaky, Mossissobo doesn’t prevent the Creator, a second time, from returning to his country.
He let him plant his trees, bushes and reeds.
However, very angry, Mossssobo lay a terrible curse on the country
From this day and until the end of time, here and there,
the plants would sometimes become invisible, sometimes visible,
the same for some stones and rocks,
the same for some bridges,
the same for some parts of roads….
It’s even said that roads could turn blue like the sky !!! (8)

Remarking this terrible thing, Anoupu sank in the deepest despair ...
Who would like to live in this land, certainly beautiful but bewitched….
No city would ever be founded in this place ...
All his work had become futile and useless….
The Creator confided his misfortune to a strange men.
A resident of a distant island.
An old sage, who is said to have visited 1000 countries without leaving his home,
Another creator, who, as we know, had founded two countries, a coastal area and an island.
His advice was not good, so strong was the curse... (9)
but these simple words gave courage and enthusiasm to Anupu.

Right in the middle of the country,
upstream of the mouth was a large swamp ...
There, no more trees, bushes and reeds were visible from the sky
So, Anupu dried up this bayou and made it into a large plain empty of all vegetable
Elsewhere too, near the Great Sea, he removed thousands of bewitched trees….
Elsewhere, again, he destroyed roads and bridges ...
This country will never be a country like the others.
Forever this curse will persist….
Every inhabitant of this country will have to endure the curse of the vengeful spirit (10).

As for Anupu, before leaving definitively this region which had, at first, given him so much joy, before making him aware of so much unpleasantness, he decided three things :
The first was to give this country the name of Mossissobo.
The second was to keep its promise and give a new home to the spirit ; a stone cave erected on a wooded hill.
The third was to create a small island not far from the mainland.
Who knows, perhaps, the old wise man who loves living on his island so much, will one day decide to stay for a while at Mossissobo (11)....
Notes & remarks :
1- first days of March 2020. Text translated from French with G..gle, really sorry ....Yes, I'm French.....This tale is a pastiche (but also a tribute) to certain African myths where the Creator's projects are thwarted by a trickster. Tricksters crosses and often breaks both physical and societal rules, violate the principles of social and natural order, playfully disrupt normal life, then restore it to a new base.
2- Anupu is an Egyptian god better known by the Greek name of Anubis. The meaning of Merynetjeru: "Beloved of the Gods". I chose this pharonic pseudonym because my first video game is the city builder "Pharaoh".
3- Mossissobo is a pure fantasy map with some real world location features like:
- the dune of Pilat (France)
- the meanders of the Allier river (France),
- the north-american bayous,
- railways from mountainous countries like Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia (see Dulevoz's youtube videos), etc.
4- Fancy etymololgia; this name is of course inspired by the Mississippi River. However, many people believed in the threatening presence of demons that haunt the wilderness.
5- Monday morning, april 6, 2020 : a long series of error messages with the inability to access at the sunday evening backup.
6- using the Saturday night backup, all Sunday work is lost ....
7- I also had to redo the section of the railway that goes through the mountains ... hell on earth, uh ... on map ...
8- it's of course a Mod issue....
9 - I'll let you guess which British Youtuber I'm talking about ...
"export the heightmap... use Move It to export assets etc. Start new map, import heightmap and assets, tidy up the bits, hope it is fixed". Unfortunately, the same problems also appear on this second map .... (april 8).
10- All this is very exaggerated. I no longer have any problem since I no longer use the Loadind Screen Mod ... after a very long and meticulous investigation ... (another exaggeration).

FINAL CONCLUSION: if you have the same problems with this map, either deactivate the loading screen mod, or keep this mod but unlock all 81 tiles for free with the appropriate mod ...
