Description
Fourth Doctrine Reformation and Excommunication
A functional 4 doctrines mod that also supports Excommunications as a bonus.

Summary
The full summary is that this mod will:
Allow a Temporal head of a religion to Excommunicate (and grant divorces)
Grant reforming religions a total of four doctrines to spend

That's all

Why does it exist? Well...

The story
I recently discovered a mod that allowed reformed pagans with temporal leadership to excommunicate people. As an almost exclusively pagan player this sounded hilarious to me. Unfortunately the mod in question didn't play nice with any other mod that fiddles with the religion features file, which is... well quite a few other mods, actually.

Thanks to a comment by a user known as Dr. Objebos on the Temporal can Excommunicate mod page, I discovered the ability to excommunicate was pretty much determined by a simple yes or no bit of text. So I decided to add that bit of text to a relatively common file that also edits religions, namely one that gives more doctrines - four total doctrines to be exact.

Credit note:
The many various "extra doctrine" mods that have existed prior to this one for me to figure out how and what to do to replicate that, and of course the Dr. Objebos individual responsible for my discovery of how the Excommunication ability can be added.

Further note:
Anyone who wishes to make a variant with a different number of total doctrines may feel free to use this mod as a base. You can add or remove additional doctrines by simply finding the bit of code that says:

"religion_doctrine = {
buttons = { doctrine1 doctrine2 doctrine3 doctrine4 }"

And either removing doctrines or adding doctrine 5, doctrine 6 until you have however many you want. This bit of code can be found in common > religion features > 00_features.txt

Want to support the creator?
If you'd like to contact me for something, or otherwise keep up with me outside of Steam, you can typically find most of what I'm up to lately through my Carrd page.[fjarunsigr.carrd.co] Following on any of the platforms in my Carrd would be appreciated, and they're a bit more reliable to contact me through than Steam is.

How can I get help?
If you need help quickly, try contacting me on my Twitter. If you just want to tell me about a potential issue, feel free to use the Steam comments - just be aware that these are slower as the notifications are largely useless.

Do not try to create mod page discussions for help at all. They are by far the worst method, as there is no notification for when one is started whatsoever.

If and when I start actively modding again, I will see what I can do to offer alternative download options. For the moment, this is offered as-is.

That's pretty odd. Do you have any other mods installed that mess with faith in general?

That is an interesting one. Sounds like a line missing from a file at a guess. If I get back on CK2 I'll have a look through files to patch it, but it's unlikely.

If you want to take a crack at fixing it yourself, look through the mod and you should see the filepath. If you look through the vanilla game version of the same path you can find the original files and scan for a line that mentions the divorces, then just copy that into the mod file and it *should* work just fine. The pope role and the like should have the line for that if they're in the same file, or any other religious leader etc capable of it.

Okay, I know this is ancient, but becoming a temporal leader makes it so you can't get divorces for yourself.

If you're set on having one, you can actually easily edit this mod to achieve it. If you see the further note of the description - there are some slightly more detailed instructions than this comment will allow, but:

You can find the mod on your system most likely at: My documents > Paradox interactive > CK2 > Mod. Find the fourth Doctrine .zip in there and edit the 00_features.txt file.
When you find that text file, you only need to delete where it says "Doctrine4" and then it'll be a 3 doctrine version. Save and repackage and you'd have a working edit.

The actual publishing it as a mod part is honestly much more work then the file edit required for that.

any chance of a three doctrine version, I usually like to pick three doctrines so it would be really nice to have that with excommunications for temporal enabled in a way that reliably works.

Let me know if you keep having the issue, if people go quiet I kinda have to assume they solved the issue as it happens quite often after troubleshooting via comments.

ok thanks

If its a number of mods it may be an idea to open CK2 for say a minute, then close it for another minute and then try again. Sometimes steam can be a bit slow to register that it is meant to be downloading new mods.

Its also possible that if your internet isn't particularly amazing OR if you're downloading a particularly large mod that other smaller ones (such as my mods) are stuck behind that in the download queue.

If you're only trying to download just my mods and that issue is occurring... you could try using the external download link to my google drive and get both the .zip and .mod files from there to place into your CK2 mods area.

Are you having this issue with a number of mods right now, or just the two you commented on of mine?
