Description
KMI Kelpie Class Destroyer II

Length: 57 Blocks, 142.5 Meters.
Size: 5,267 Blocks. 67,769 PCU.
Dry Tonnage: 8,323 Tons.
Max Jump Distance: 4,808 Km.

This ship is vanilla and survival ready. It does use DLC blocks for aesthetic improvements, but those blocks are entirely or almost entirely not structurally necessary. If you do encounter a major issue, please, let me know so I can resolve it.

Knightmare Industries presents the updated Kelpie II, one of its latest generation of warships. The design is part of a new program to improve older KMI models. Notable changes include a more streamlined design, improved thrust output, massively increased gyroscoping, improved jump range, improved hydrogen capacity, improved firepower, and more. It also retains the large array of rocket launchers that were on the original design. The new design is slightly slower than the older one due to the increased number of gyroscopes, but it now has the best turning rate in its class. The increased fuel capacity, jump range and firepower give the Kelpie II strong mission endurance, and the design is likely to become the backbone of the KMI destroyer fleet alongside the Eridania. The ship is named after the mythological Kelpie, which would draw people to the water and drown them, much like this design can draw less capable ships into atmosphere's and defeat them.

The primary propulsion is Hydrogen with some Ion Thruster as backups. Hydrogen is stored in 14 tanks and supplied by 8 O2/H2 Generators. With 16 Jump Drives, the ship has one of the best jump ranges in the fleet. The ship is armed with 16 Gatling Turrets, 16 Missile Turrets, 14 Interior Turrets for anti-personnel defense, and 24 forward facing Rocket Launchers. Power is supplied by 2 Large Reactors, 12 Small Reactors and a battery backup system. The ship is mostly light armor, with heavy armor at the front and reinforced armor around critical components. There is a Medical Room, Survival Kit, with an Assembler and Basic Refinery for resupply and repair on mission.

The ship is built fully vanilla and survival ready, with an interior in the style of "The Expanse." I use a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. There are also a few other program and timer blocks if you need them. You may have noticed already, but the ship uses DLC blocks. The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. The thruster plume is accomplished through spotlights, something I learned from Husker54 and their Donnager. Links below.

It's been far too long since I made a ship. I haven't had much inspiration as of late. Remaking an older model seemed the easiest way to try and get back into the swing of things. I'm quite please with the Kelpie II. Although I was unsure if it would be a worthwhile design at first, I've found it has fairly unique capabilities relative to the rest of the KMI fleet. The extreme gyroscoping and rocket firepower stand out first and foremost. Though it's twice the mass of the old design as a downside, it is nearly as fast thanks to what I learned making the Eridania. Overall the design seems to be a huge improvement over the old model. I hope you enjoy it as well!
