Pipe work

Description
I started this mod after watching Slim build an oil refinery by laying little bits of pipe.
This mod was intended to make that process simpler.

Then I started building my own oil terminal and the mod grew a bit to contain extra bits I wanted like a catwalk that can be extended to a reasonable length and placed all at once and in more that one colour. A single piece fuel filling spout.
Really long pipes and really short pipes.

The Mod contains two tools to help with building refinery and similar

There is a pipe laying tool - which will let you place pipes of various lengths and diameters.
There is a pipe shapes tool - which will let you place a feed pipe (giant tap), walkway, ladder , empty tank, normal tank - all in various colours.

Pipe laying tool
- built sort of on request - while watching Slim create an oil terminal.

This mod lets you lay lengths of pipe longer than the standard asset length
- standard length to x50

You can choose to put a curved end on either or both ends of the pipe in any or all of four directions.
(Note: this doesn't work for the two cable types (for pipes its fine) the diameter is too small to render the curve properly.
- if you try there is also an offset issue which I haven't fixed because for cables it doesn't render properly anyway.)

You can place up to 10 pipes side by side all at once with definable gap

You can scale the pipe diameter - normal to 100% bigger

You can lay the pipes horizontally or vertically

The pipes come in a variety of colours - Steel, Rusty, Plastic, Dirty, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Black, cable red, cable black

- The two cable color options are special in that the diameter of the pipes is a lot smaller by default.

Its located in the madhatter category

Pipe shapes tool
- works in a similar way - this tool is likely to change a bit.
- Hence no real description here
- play with it to see what it does.

Things still to do
As I need other bits I haven't thought of yet, I'll add them.

Things I'm not doing
Creating models for all combinations to save deleting all the bits; because -
There are 60 pipe lengths in 8 colours with 25 different combinations of end joints all in 10 diameters with
choice of laying them in groups of 1 to 10 with 600 gap adjustments
All that lot would come to 720 million different models to cover all possible combinations ;)

its just eye candy

Does it actually work? I mean for transfering fluids or is it just for cool designs?

Hi Mad Hatter, thanks for the reply.

As an update it appears to happen when you delete something close to the asset. I had additional track acting as a spacer between lines. After completing the pipe work I deleted the spare track and the closest pipework appeared to lose its z-axis co-ords.

Might be useful to anyone using the mod (which I love btw) to delete spare track before you start your build.

Hi Bob - hmmm yep I've noticed that sometimes. Seems that the game doesn't like assets that aren't attached to the ground and goes and adjusts their position. Its a bit annoying.

Hey Mad Hatter. Have you (or anyone else) ever noticed an issue in which sections of pipe suddenly lose their z-axis offset?

I created a section of raised pipework then saved. When I reopened the game a few of the pipes were now at ground level.

Have you seen this effect and is there a work around?

Cheers
Bob
