Adam Air was a privately owned airlined based in West Jakarta, Indonesia. Though it was sometimes referred to as a low-cost carrier, it marketed itself as a middle point between low-cost and traditional carriers. After a series of corruptions and embezzlement scandals, poor safety record, and legal issues, Adam Air declared bankruptcy in 2008.
