Description
KMI Kirin Class Battleship II

Length: 79 Blocks, 197.5 Meters.
Size: 13,655 Blocks. 141,353 PCU.
Dry Tonnage: 44,992 Tons.
Max Jump Distance: 2,500 Km.

This ship is vanilla and survival ready. It does use DLC blocks for aesthetic improvements, but those blocks are entirely or almost entirely not structurally necessary. If you do encounter a major issue, please, let me know so I can resolve it.

Knightmare Industries presents the updated Kirin II. The original Kirin has been completely redone and reclassified as a battleship. Notable changes include increased firepower, protection, turning speed and improved jump range. The ship has increased thrust but lower overall acceleration due to massively increased weight. The new Kirin II is twice the mass of the previous model. KMI considers the model to be a major improvement over the previous one which was often criticized for having low durability. The class is named after the Kirin, or Qilin, a chimerical creature from Chinese mythology, reminiscent of the ship's somewhat unusual appearance.

The propulsion is primarily Ion with some Hydrogen thrust. The 46 Jump Drives give it a maximum jump range of roughly 2,500 km, more than twice that of the previous model. The ship is protected by 72 large turrets, 36 each of Gatling and Missile, with 28 Interior Turrets and 24 forward facing Rocket Launchers. Power is supplied by 16 Large Reactors and a battery backup system. The ship's hull is heavy armor, reinforced around vital areas. There is a Medical Room, 2 Survival Kits, 2 Assemblers, and 4 Basic Refineries on board.

The ship is built fully vanilla and survival ready, with an interior in the style of "The Expanse." I use a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. There are also a few other program and timer blocks if you need them. You may have noticed already, but the ship uses DLC blocks. The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. The thruster plume is accomplished through spotlights, something I learned from Husker54 and their Donnager. Links below.

Please feel free to modify the ship to fit your in game needs. Just be sure to give credit to the original creator.

Author's Notes
I was a little hesitant to upload this. I keep thinking that new ships have to be better in every single way to be worth uploading, and with this being slower than the older Kirin, heavier, bigger, and having a greater PCU cost, I wasn't sure. But I'd rather share something than not, and there are many good changes too, so up it goes. I'm also thinking about adding lore to these workshop pages, which means I need to really get some written down. I have ideas, but I want to make sure they're sensible first before modifying half my workshop pages to reflect that content. In short, the Kirin is one of the flagships of the KMI fleet. I hope I can work out more detail than that, but its going to take some time. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this ship. Thank you.

If you have any questions or comments about the ship, please leave them in the comments below. Thank you for browsing this item. Safe Voyages! Papple.

@Canny_Bol Thanks. To be honest, this isn't one of my favorite designs. Some of the design elements just didn't work as well as I'd hoped.

With a design like this, you should make a Magnetar-Class or Pulsar-Class ship.

Love the huge hangar, it fits another author's hydro/atmo scout craft, four of them each in a wall. For me it's perfect, since I despise non-vertical ships! Can't understand why people build them... Up is the direction of thrust!

Hm, evidently Ill have to work hard at that then. Alternatively there are button panels next to each cockpit should your lighting preferences be other than blue.

The interior isn't blue enough.
