Edurus - Heavy Duty SAR Vessel (NOT MP RECOMMENDED)

Description
The Edurus is a 25 meter long heavy duty rescue and coast guard vessel designed for anything from offshore rescue operations to high speed chases. It has a top speed of 80 knots and a max range of over 300km. With its 6 large diesel engines to 6 water jets, it has no lack of power. The Edurus is built with durability and redundancy in mind and can take extreme amounts of damage before rendered inoperable.

Start-up:

Go the bridge of the vessel

Sit down at the Helm seat

On the roof panel, flip the “Bridge Systems” switch

On the middle of the main console, press the two buttons for the engines ON/OFF

Use WASD to control the ship.

On the center console, you can set the water jets to full forwards position and toggle the high speed gear which takes your top speed from 60 to 80 knots, but at the cost of fuel consumption.

It is important that you use the rear trim to balance the vessel according to your speed and the conditions. In high waves it’s recommended that you switch to the “High Sea Trim Mode”. This will keep the ship more leveled and stable in high waves. Controls are on the center console.

The computers

The main screens can display mostly whatever they want by pressing the “NEXT” button in the top left corner.

The two small screens on each side of the engine on/off buttons displays stats to each of the two engine groups, like RPS, range, temperature, and fuel level.

The screen on the roof panel shows any current alarms. You can press the “Mute” button on the screen to mute the alarm sound.

The navigator has an additional screen on his right with another map.

The small screen on the center of the top console is a radio signal locator. You can type in any frequency on the keypad above it and it will show the direction any signals may be coming from on that frequency.

The screen on the left of the Helm seat is for the navigation lights. You can press any of the lights on the screen to turn them on/off or change color.

Autopilots
There are two types of autopilots on board. One is a normal “hold current heading” autopilot. And the other is a destination autopilot where you type in a waypoint on the keypad in front of the navigator.

To toggle the heading hold, you can either press the button on the center console, or press [1]. An indicator light on the center console tells you when the heading hold is on. If you start steering with [A/D] when the heading hold is on, this will automatically turn it off.

The destination autopilot can be toggled on with a button right in front of the Helm seat after you have entered the coordinates. A green light will tell when it is on. The autopilot will automatically turn off when reaching the destination, so you DO NOT NEED to use the button that holds the water jets in full forwards position.

Equipment

The water cannon on the bow can be controlled by the navigator seat. You turn the water cannon on with a button on the main console between the two main screens.

The Edurus is fitted with an anti-collision system. If it detects that it is moving fast towards an obstacle, it will turn off the engines. On the top panel on the drive side you have the controls for the anti-collision system. You can disable it if needed, and if it activates, press the “Reset Anti-Collision” button to turn of the alarm.

If there are no players on board and the ship is at speed, it will automatically perform a kill cord emergency stop. So if you fall off, you can swim back to the ship. The kill cord stop can be disabled with a button on the roof console.

Power and Fuel

To refuel the ship, just use the fluid connectors on the sides of the rear deck. (Diesel). Here you will also find the connector for the power.

Down in the engine control room you will find large wall panel with breakers for all the power systems on the ship. Use this to distribute power how you like.

There are hatches on the lower deck to access the fuel tank and ballast tank. DO NOT open these while there is liquid inside! They are there for maintenance and repair use.

What about its fuel eficiency? How it is?

In terms of stability, this thing tries too hard. Instead of feeling like everything's taken care of, I feel like everything I do causes a feedback effect that is just plain stressful to try to damp down, even when it's not sending me ass over teakettle. This is the second vessel I've tried from this series, and I have to suggest that the author try a different approach to stability control. :P

Also, I can't find a way to hold speed unless I switch the deflector control to sticky, in which case I can't find a way to set it back to zero. Great for short hops, but if I tried to take a long trip my hand would get sore from holding down the W key.

have you thought about making it 1.0 compatible?

Really cool, only downside is that it moves forward slowly when the engines are running. It's way to sensitive on throttle, a little to much and a sharp turn and you flip the boat standing still.

are you going to ever make a vehicle which requires a mission to spawn?
