Budd M1A - Metro-North Railroad

Description
This mod adds the Budd M1A in its Metro-North Railroad configuration to Transport Fever 2. Introduced in 1968 as the “Metropolitan 1,” Budd’s M1 EMU rail car helped overhaul the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Agency’s aging, prewar fleet. The new design sought a middle ground between traditional rail service and rapid transit, ushering in a new era of commuting in the Tristate area.

Following the dissolution of the Penn Central and New York Central railroads, among others, the MTA formed Metro-North, which provides commuter service through much of western Connecticut into New York City. M1 and M3 cars operated by Metro-North are designated as M1A and M3A, respectively.

Technical Details:
- Top Speed: 100 mph
- Power: 1184 kW
- Traction: 340 kN
- Seats: 120
- Availability: 1971 to 2009

This isn’t just my first mod – it’s my first attempt at modeling, texturing, and scripting anything whatsoever. Please keep that in mind. Thanks go to whoever created the M1/M3’s Wikipedia page and the owner and operator of trainsarefun.com, who provided context and images for this mod’s creation. Very special thanks go to Maik, who held my hand through this entire process and endured more than three months of incessant (and often dumb) questions. You're indispensable, my friend. Most-special thanks, though, go to my partner, Chelsi, who supported me throughout despite my near-obsessive fixation on this stupid mod. She’s happy to have me back.

The mod’s GSI G70 bogies were provided by Maik (models) and Skyjoe (textures). They’re gratefully used here with permission.

Please note: in its current form, the train functions on diesel power so that an extra, third-rail mod isn’t required. I recommend downloading the MOTRAS Project mod, which includes the correct, 1219mm platform.

See my workshop for the entire Budd M1/M3 series: the Budd M1 (Long Island Rail Road variant), the Budd M1A (Metro-North variant), the Budd M3 (Long Island Railroad variant), and the Budd M3A (Metro-North Railroad variant).

Works great, looks great. The only 2 things that need changing are the train is not a diesel powered vehicle, second using the cockpit view, you cannot see anything but a black window.

@commander jbug You're right. Whoops. Sorry about that -- thanks for the heads up. Fixing. Will update this comment as soon as it's online.

Awesome work! One glitch though, the brake lights turn on at the front of the train and the headlights turn on at the rear of the train
