Alco PA - Pennsylvania

  • 1955-1968 Tuscan red, 1 stripe.

The Alco PA was a diesel passenger locomotive built in the United States by American Locomotive Company (ALCO) and General Electric between June 1946 and December 1953. The Alco PB was a cabless booster unit that could be added to provide extra power.

The Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) was an American railroad established in 1846 that served the northeast and midwest. For the first half of the 20th century, the PRR was the largest U.S. railroad by traffic and revenue. At one time, the PRR was the largest publicly traded corporation in the world, with a budget larger than that of the U.S. government.

In 1946, the Pennsylvania Railroad purchased 10 Alco PA and 5 Alco PB units.

Like many railroads, the PRR suffered a decline following WWII and eventually merged with rival New York Central in 1968 to form the Penn Central. However, the merger did not go well and within two years the Penn Central filed for bankruptcy. In 1976, viable parts of the company were transferred to Conrail.

Is it possible that you could make just the B unit by itself? I tend to run my lengthiest trains with these and they sometimes struggle when there are only 3 total locomotives. Thank you!

Yes, I noticed this, but it is a carry over from the default Alco PA. I didn't alter it, I just repainted it.

Hopefully this link will work for you. the Lehigh valley PA set also has this issue. It actually shows in the purchase menu the space between them.

The Spacing between the engines and train cars are either too much or too little. In a AA consist, t he lead engine and the rear of the followiing engine have a big gap between them. between the rear engine and the train cars, they are smashed together.
