Patient X v2.0

Description
Mod provides 1 new class called Patient X. Patient X is a high mobility caster with devastating ranged spells to obliterate everything in your way combinded with a few melee class skills and crowd control mechanics .

I took the best aspects of each class and combined it into one. Improved each skill both visually and statistically to be overkill without completely trivializing elite difficulty (debatable lol). Patient X was tuned (aside from the newest spell Ground Zero) to be a casual progression through elite difficulty without stressing too much on gear. Lastly, I wanted to get away from a class that was only good if you max'ed out 1 or 2 offensive abilities. You get the whole package with Patient X eventually.

The character class is essentially complete but for the past week has been constantly worked on for improvements. I may overhaul some abilities to require other mechanics but probably not at this point. Time to time I may add additional effects to some of the spells or add additional spells all together. I'm thinking about maybe adding a spell called DeathRay which would be a powerful single target attack but upon getting the killing blow the target would explode causing significant aoe dmg to a large area. A second spell I'm debating would be a Cluster Bomb which starts off as a cannon shot but splits multiple times on impact setting half the visible screen on fire for 9-12 seconds. Although, I don’t want to diminish what the feel of Arcbeam and Firebomb is (similar spells to the ones I just described) so I'd probably just combine Deathray and Clusterbomb into a single spell to keep it unique :D.

Highlights:
3 skill points per experience level and 4 skill points per fame so that you can experience all that this class has to offer by level 98.

10 stat points per level to remove the need to critically analyze every new piece of loot in order to progress. I may bump this back up to 15 per level like when I was initially balancing things.

New Ground Zero spell does kinda break the game difficulty in aoe situations but it was too awesome to touch the balancing of it.

Godzilla potion provided in act 1 level 1. Various versions that gives a bonus to magic find, gold find, experience, and fame. It seems the game is fairly rewarding though even without it.

Oh, I also provided 2 sick wands for when you reach higher levels. You won't need them (I don't use them) but now you don't have to worry about grinding for a quality weapon. The class is for those who want an action packed experience without stressing the details.

Frosted Hills side quest and other simular quests now gives you shiny set gear instead of a UI lockeup-crash for this new custom class.

Possible Conflicts to other mods/original game -as far as I know
This mod does change elite difficulty monster health pools by 200% to 700% for monsters above level 30'ish. Place this mod below a mod like synergy (atleast I believe synergy has rebalcing to them) if you want to play another class at elite difficulty or simply remove it from the 10 uploaded mods.

Identy and Town Portal Scrolls now have 99 charges and cost 1 gold for convenience. They are now extremely rare to drop so just purchase one from a vender.

Godzilla potions and the starting weapons will most likely be deleted with removal of THIS mod. Just make a new char and use shared stash if you wish to have them again >.<

To instal mod:
You click green subscribe button at the top of this page. Moments later it'll say subscribed. Start TL2 through steam. When the first loading screen pops up click the play button with the cog wheel ( > + * not just the >).

This will bring you to the mod launcher screen. Put the check mark on patient x v2.0 located off to the left side of the launcher window. On the right side of the screen you should see a list of mods that will be used during this session(same ones you put a check mark on). Make sure Patient X v2.0 is on top of the list unless you're sure you want it "lower priority" for whatever reason.

I'd also recomend backing up your "mod save folder" before trying any new mod just in case something gets corrupted. For me it’s found in documents->Mygames->Runic Games->Torchlight2->modsave.

Gr8 mod would love an update.

It's too bad this isn't updated anymore. I would love to be able to use Rapid Fire on it.

Man, finally, a class for me. Something that just blows sh*t the f*ck up and says "to hell with balance, just go nuts with this". I am going to enjoy this, I think. :D

Updates are most likely complete. About the only thing I’d do is re-adjust the enemy hp curve lvl 70 plus if I ever got a complaint that things couldn’t be killed. To be honest though I’m afraid to touch anything in the editor since it has been so long.

I stoped mod'ing around when I was getting overly ambitious trying to get more custom kaboom looking spells when my computer couldn't really handle it and figured it wasn’t wise to continue down that path. Furthermore, I'm not sure where I put my notes of what I thought was missing from the char. It'd be hard to pick up where I left off at this point.

Most of what I sought after I managed to complete so I can feel good about that.

Thank you for the input. I am very impressed with this character class. my daughter keeps finding new things this class can do after every 4 or so levels. while mine does something completely different. quite fun. after your earlier comments, I see now that you are correct and that was why I could not create a config. the "extra" skill tree and variables are too difficult. are the updates complete to this character, or would there be more in the future? thanks for responding to my questions.

@Gaevonn Continued Part 1. I took a second look at what is required to make the config file for custom chars for Rapid Respec and I still think it just isn't possible. Other issues I saw is the program wanted to know the max skill level cap, while Patient X has variable skill level caps along with variable Hp per Lvl . Also, the naming convention used in the GUTS editor also isn't the same as what's seen in game (Outlander is actually called a "Wanderer" which raises confusion).

On that note, in game the class is called Patient X while within the GUTS editor I called the class originally patient zero - so one of the data class files most likely should contain

Hum_Patient_Zero_M
Patient X
MaleOutlander.png
Hum_Patient_Zero_F
Patient X
FemaleOutlander.png
outlanderbackground.png
Outlander.txt

"I believe" but that's all a guess. Who knows what it's suppost to be >.>. I'd have to see an example of another mod'ed character.

@Gaevonn Continued Part 2
It's possible a config file could be made that ignore the issues (a few not listed), and the editor would be limited by you the user knowing the correct inputs (ex: not entering values over skill caps), but I'm unsure if it would work and that config file would take a while to set up. I really don't want to invest a few hours trying to get it to work when I'm fairly certain it wouldn't.

Furthermore, even if it is possible to make these config files I know my limits and I’m certain I’d goof something up and never notice what I did wrong making the effort futile. It has been like a year since I've done anything with the mod file / Guts editor. It took me like 5 min just to figure out how to load up Patient X into it >.>.

Sorry,
could be worse though right :D.

@Gaevonn First of all glad you and your daughter is enjoying the mod.

I wasn't familiar with the Rapid Respec program so I checked it out >.<. My best guess is that my patient x mod alters the user interface in game so much that isn't recognized by Rapid R tool. For instance my Patient X characters have 4 skill tabs not 3 and those skills were massively edited.

With that said, I think I used the mod called SynergiesMod for respec'ing skills (by purchasing a potion). Other mods are out there for attribute stat points (again by purchasing a potion). Unfortunately I’m unaware of any mod to modify the aesthetics to Patient X mod characters, but I haven't exactly looked either.

I know this thread is a bit old, but do you know how to make a Torchlight 2 Rapid Respec config for this character? My daughter and I love playing with this character and would like to try a few things with the TL2RR but i have been unable to build a mod compatibility file for it. Thanks.

@Chris.aeddan Futuristicnesss I think was some default stat within the program useed to create the mod. I believe it has no affect on anything.

@Isuebin Bummer to hear about the crashes. I went at great lenghs to get the mod friendly to other classes and other mods (re-wrote a metric shit ton of the original mod the best I could because the new hero class corrupted like every other hero class). It's possible I missed a thing or two along the way. :( To find the mistake it'd probably take a very long time especially being I haven't used "guts" (the mod program) in like a year.
