Description
Reenact the 2nd Punic War,where both Carthage was at it's peak of it's power and Rome was finally rising to become a great empire! In modern history, we know that Carthage setteled on new land to regain what it had lost in the 1st Punic War (The island of Sicily). This new land happened to be Spain, as it is known today. To punish Rome for taking over Sicily, Carthage sent their greatest general, Hannibal, and an army of 90,000 soldiers, 12,000 calvary, and 37 war elephants. The mountains between Spain and Rome were a major problem though, as they were dangerous and filled with Germaic tribes. Through the tribes and starvation, 40,000 soldiers, 9,000 calvary, though all elephants reportedly survived. Still, Hannibal had a force to be reckoned with, and advanced on Rome. Breaking through their defences and crushing all of Rome's famous legions, Hannibal arrived at Rome and pillaged much of it. There was a problem with the brilliantly schemed plan, however. Carthage had been left unprotected, so Hannibal had no choice but to return to his city via the ocean. Hannibal and his troops fought well at the start, but were later crushed completely by the Roman General Scipio. Rome forced Carthage to pay a large fine and give up their newly settled land in Spain.

My questions, however, is that, armed with this knowledge, could Carthage have defeated Rome? FInd out for yourself in this Rome vs Carthage scenario brought to you by yours truly.

Sorry to say everyone, but it seems that this and the Research Enabled version of it are currently unavliable, but will likely not be fixed for a a long time,as the files for it are on another computer that I currently have no access to. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for all the helpful comments :)

For the moment, I've got school things to work on, but I hope someday I'll find some time to work and improve on this!

The map isn't necessarily correct, to be honest. Carthage is in the right place, but, other than that, most others aren't. Hippo Regius and Utique are supposed to be near Carthage. Also, there are two Saguntums. The one in Spain is where it should be. Cadiz is where it is supposed to be, but that is the Spanish name for it. The Carthaginian name for it is Gades. Gades is not in Africa. Also, I believe Karalis is not on the west coast of Iberia; it is in Sardinia. A lot of things to work on.

The North African portion of the map is much to green. It should be mostly desert. Italy is too narrow to have large battles on.

Viriathus played a massive role in defeating roman armies along side Hannibal's forces. Still, good job.

I was thinking about adding the celts, but I decieded against it.The main reason is that they weren't a huge factor in the war...of course there was quite a few smaller skirmishes, but it is not signifigant enough to add all that stress to Carthage of destroying yet another Civ.

The reason I didn't add the Greeks is because they were largely diminished after the conquest of Rome, with only small states left for Greece. So,the same as the Celts,it would be a large hassle for not much return.
