Eco Clean - Advancing Grooved Disc Oil Skimmer

Atock Industries is a leader in environment protection. Today, the Eco Clean (tm) brand brings you a containerized, self-contained oil skimmer solution for cleaning up oil spills of any size.

Formfactor is a standard AISO 32G0 container (30ft, 11x41).


This is intended to be deployed from and towed by a ship. The skimmer has an integral tow bar with small connector, so a crane may pull the skimmer to the side of a ship. Skimming feature not yet implemented.

Role Play Features:

This creation is mostly automated. The "up" and "down" buttons control deployment and distance of the tow rope.

Two things to be aware of. The first is that during deployment, you will need to pause for a few seconds when the skimmer starts lowering in order to allow the booms to connect. Second, be sure to not allow the tow bar to tangle when the tow line comes all the way in.

I consider this creation to be only a version 0.9. The pump system is not implemented and I play to wait until I create some oil spill missions to finish implementing. I have some ideas for simulating that with the game's mission system.

This is a slightly modified version of the X150 skimmer. This creation is the result of my experiments with creating usable floating booms in Stormworks. This design was chosen because it doesn't suffer from physics glitches. But it can't be compactly stored unfortunately. I have another design that I may release which floats well and can be rolled up.
