Description
[Briefing]

The Brotherhood’s development into nuclear armaments remains stifled by continued GDI attacks on our research lab in Lesotho. A local ally has tipped us off to a GDI base near the Blyde River Canyon, believing to contain the primary components of a tactical nuclear warhead.

Kane wishes to retrieve this piece of technology to further our arsenal. Our recon indicates the base only reachable via helicopter, and heavily fortified.

You will descend on the canyon with a small team. The trail leads to their power base. Disable it and hijack one of their transport helicopters. With the anti-air down, land the chopper inside the GDI base and capture the so-called warhead! Lay waste to the remaining GDI forces.

Funny. pity 3 bad things for me: The enemy harvester got stuck and the computer didn't attack at all, the whole base full of GDI tanks couldn't go in or out, they didn't do anything, they just waited for destruction. Occupied hospital did not work (it was not necessary). I couldn't make tanks (again), there was again bug with the vehicle factory, It made me make about 10 tanks. + bonus - if you occupy a helipad, you can summon orcs - it was my last hope.

Ghost, I don't suppose you'd be interested in making a 128x128 mission?

@ Zaptagious: I figured it out. The mission's INI file contains several instances of ,, which C&C's ini parser cannot parse properly.

(Specifically, strtok() treats double commas as a single comma, which causes it to parse the remainder of the line into the wrong fields, and then run out of tokens at the end of the line and pass a null pointer to atoi(), which the C++ standard deems to be the dreaded "undefined behavior.")

To fix the INI file, put a valid value in those fields. (You can also put an invalid value there, such as a space, but that may cause other problems. (In fact, giving the infantry an invalid mission string also leads to a crash.))

The bigger mystery is how ANY version of C&C can load this map without crashing. My best guess is that different compilers are doing undefined behavior differently (which is precisely what the standard says they can do). But I'm specifically using the same version of MSVC for this that Petroglyph says they used, so ???

cheers dude! 🦀 this one was the actually the first 'new' one I started working on - the first six are more than a decade old and were made anywhere between 2004-2006 - F**k where has the time gone haha!! anyways thanks for playing the missions - I've kinda gone opposite to you with your campaign and have started playing 'Operation Hell March' first! man it's a challenge, i'm used to playing Tiberian Dawn on fast speed but I gotta slow Red Alert wayyy down - anyways i'll upload a playthrough when i'm done! Great work so far!

This one was the toughest one so far! Really dig these missions, they have that tough as nails Covert Operations kind of feel :) By the way, for some reason this mission in particular is incompatible with the CFE Patch Redux and crashes when you launch it if that mod is enabled. All your other missions so far works fine with it though. Thought I'd just point it out.

Amazed at the keen attention to detail and thorough review, it really makes the heart warm inside and makes the grafting of these missions so much more worth it!! Thank You! :)

This map is OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend as it is an actual fun, yet hard challenging mission. There are many options once the opening phase of the mission is completed and the choices on how to attack the rest of the enemy forces is ample and refreshing. This in my opinion is what makes an amazing C&C map, and I feel like Ghost delivered a contest winner for sure with this one. Probably my favorite Ghost designed map so far, though I will also mention "Not A Drill" because I think that map is fantastic as well. Super job! <3
