Description
Allows you to control any fallen/awakened empire, crisis empire, or marauder empire. All this mod does is use the "set_player" effect that is present in the vanilla game (it's what allows you to switch to the robot uprising). Any unexpected behavior that arises from this is out of this mod's reach.

terrible mod, contacted the creator directly and he ignored my constant pleas to add in giant space trash gobblers as a playable empire, 0/5

I tried to ask if they'd be willing to fix it (as they said they would if there was major bugs that prevented it from working - idk if that's still in effect anymore as it contradicts the top line of their description..) and haven't got a response yet but I'll give it a try. ;-;

@BeeporeSquared Sorry, while that is an interesting suggestion, it is much more work required to make than this mod. All this mod does is provide a UI for the "change player's empire" effect that exists in the game already. Sounds like what you are describing requires adding a bit of actual content to the game, which I am not feeling up for at the moment.

If the original author of the mod you are describing does not want to work on that mod anymore, then you should ask them if they or yourself can post it on the Stellaris Modding Den Discord ( https://discord.gg/dJZpcYNy ) in #mod-orphanage. If the author has just been inactive for a long time and you decide to post it there without asking them, just make that clear when you post the mod.

Hi, I have a request if that's alright. There's a similar mod focused on the contingency called Playable Contingency that works slightly differently (unique civic that lets you become the contingency and trigger ghost signal event through an ascendancy trait), but the author has stopped working on it and it seems like this mod would only let you play as them really late in the game rather than building up to it as a normal machine empire for a while.

It's probably not in the cards for any variety of reasons but would it be possible to make a mod like this/some sort of implementation in this mod or ask the old author to update theirs? They seem not to want to work on it anymore but it looks like it'd be a more organic or lore friendly way to play as the contingency. I understand if not, since some random idiot asking for a mod request online is probably annoying but I just thought it'd be an interesting idea.

Well updating the little version number to 2.8 is probably a good time to add switching to normal empires as well.

Used it a short while in 2.7.2. Specifically for Multiplayer, and it works!

Unbidden works almost flawlessy, remember to upgrade starbases to dimensional anchors to get reinforcements.
Playing as an AE works decently, the only real issue I experienced is that army fleets eventually become non-responsive after too much consecutive conquering of hostile planets.
Scourge & Contingency should work as well, but might suffer this same army bug.

Update for 2.8 would be ideal
