Description
The Boeing 747SP

The Boeing 747SP (for Special Performance) is a shortened version of the Boeing 747 widebody airliner, designed for a longer range. Boeing needed a smaller aircraft to compete with the DC-10 and L-1011 trijet widebodies, introduced in 1971/1972. Pan American World Airways requested a 747-100 derivative to fly between New York and the Middle East, a request also supported by Iran Air, and the first order came from Pan Am in 1973. The variant first flew on July 4, 1975, was approved by the FAA on February 4, 1976, and entered service that year with Pan Am.

The SP is 47 ft (14 m) shorter and main deck doors are reduced to four on each side. The vertical and horizontal tailplane have been extended and wing flaps have been simplified. With a 700,000 lb (320 t) MTOW, it can fly 276 passengers in three classes over 5,830 nmi (10,800 km). One 747SP was modified into the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA). The last airliner was delivered in 1987; some were converted to transports of heads of state. Sales did not meet the expected 200 units, and only 45 aircraft were ultimately produced.

Operation Manual

Basic Startup Procedure
1). Grab the handles on any one of the forward passenger doors, and head up the spiral staircase to the flight deck.
2). On the overhead panel, turn on the switches for the battery, avionic gyro, engine TMS systems, the two anti-ice systems, and the transponder
3). On the autopilot console, turn on the F/D and the roll damper. Set the altitude hold to 300, or whatever your chosen altitude is.
4). On the throttle console, turn on the four engine cutoff switches. Throttle up to 9.85.
5). Sit in the F/E seat. Turn on the APU and APU Starter switches.
6). Turn on the engine power, fuel pump, and starter switches.
7). Turn on the four isolation switches for the reserve hydraulic systems.
8). Throttle up to 10 to make sure that the engines supply enough power to pressurize the HYD systems
9). Turn on the hydraulic systems 1-4 and wait until the respective low pressure warnings go away.
9). Turn off the APU and APU Starter switches.
11). Turn on the four bleed air switches for engines 1-4.
12). Open the crossfeed and use the fuel balance gauge to balance the fuel levels in the wings. Once they are balanced, close the crossfeed.
13). In the pilot's seat, release the parking brake and press up to throttle up.

Landing, and the relevant systems

GPWS callouts are available to aid the pilot in landing. When activated, the buzzers will go off when passing through 100, 50, 25, 15, 10, and 5 meters.

Autobrakes will automatically brake with an intensity of 0.7 upon touchdown when activated to help reduce the workload of the pilot and help them focus on flying.

When the flight computer detects that the plane is in the air, it will limit the throttle from going below 32%. When landing, the pilot can set the throttle all the way down to 1, and the plane will slowly descend without stalling, and the throttle will automatically be set to 1 upon touchdown.

System Descriptions

Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system consists of four main hydraulic lines and four hydraulic reservoirs, along with four backup lines in case of an emergency. System 1 powers the elevators, 2 powers the ailerons and flaps, 3 powers the rudder, and 4 powers the landing gear.
In the event of a loss of pressure in any main hydraulic system, turn on its isolate switch and turn off its backup system isolate switch. Then, turn on the respective reserve hydraulic system.
To flush the hydraulic system, turn on all of the isolate switches and turn off any hydraulic system switches. Next to the apu, turn on the Flush Hydraulic Systems switch. Pressure should drop as the fluid is pumped back into the reservoirs.

APU

The APU is capable of generating more than 1,000 units of power through two turbines and eight small generators. Turning on economy mode reduces the power to 50% and limits fuel consumption. The APU power is used to charge the batteries and start the engines. Bleed air can also be used to operate the heaters.

Engines

This 747 is powered by four jet engines, each with their own ducted fans for extra power. Generators on the engine power the plane's batteries and hydraulic systems.

I tried to make this plane as realistic as possible, but I wasn't able to find any startup checklists, and images of the interior for SAA were limited. If you know anything else about the systems of this plane, etc, feel free to tell me in the comments.

Can you make a China Airlines 611 version?

It could be an issue with hydraulic pressure. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2202647640 has a simpler hydraulic system if it isn't working for you
