Steven Universe, The Lost Episode: "Pieces of My Mind"

During the creation of Steven Universe, several concepts were cut from the show entirely, one of them was a sort of "suicide cult" called "Shattered Glass", the cult worships the idea of shattering gems as they see it as some form of deliverance or salvation.

They were intended to be in story arch called "Pieces of My Mind" where Peridot is unable to forgive herself for war crimes she committed on home world during the war, causing her to feel suicidally depressed.

Peridot is then found by the suicide cult and manipulated to join them by their leader who was planned to be a cracked pearl calling herself "shard".

Peridot joins them and tries to recruit other gems, as she also finds her way to their secret lairs location, where they planned to use a device called the "chain breaker" to shatter gems and bring them "salvation".

Peridot 's friends on earth follow her and are able to save her and the other gems she recruited on the way there, just before the machine can be used to shatter her gem or anyone else.

After saving Peridot, freeing the other gems Peridot convinced to join them and escaping with them, the cult tracks down peridot and her friends and tries to kill them.

The episode was supposed to end after they manage to defeat the cultists, but Peridot is left mentally unstable and suicidally depressed, still looking for a way to punish herself for her crimes during the war.

After this, Peridot turns to self harm and this is discovered by Steven accidentally when her sleeve accidentally rolls back, revealing a series of cuts on her arm.

Steven doesn't understand why she even left in the first place, an argument ensues and Peridot explains to Steven that she was blinded by her devotion to the diamonds and did awful things while under their control that she can never forgive herself for and hates herself for, going as far as to wish she was dead.

Steven and his friends attempt to calm Peridot down but it backfires and she locks herself away in a broom closet.

Peridot emerges later after everyone has gone and plans to finale end her life, her fist attempt is by jumping off the nearby cliff but is caught by Garnet who catches her before she hits the ground.

Peridot then runs off and attempts to build her own version of the "chain breaker" and is successful, but the machine fails and instead cracks her gem instead of killing her.

Peridot is found by her friends badly damaged, they attempt to fix her, only for her personality to "fracture", causing multiple personalities to emerge, a total of 6 more being created (a sum total of 7, including her original personality).

1. Normal Peridot.
2. The Witness. (Totally silent, stays at a distance, avoids others)
3. The Predator (Violent, Attacks others with no reason, Will eat victims)
4. The Mechanic. (Helpful, Friendly, a bit rude but means well)
5. The "Zombie". (Slow, Sluggish, Only makes groans, nearly zero motivation)
6. The Blank. (No emotion, silent, won't talk or fight, won't react to anything)
7. The Warrior. (Aggressive, Defensive, Driven by pure logic and planning, Desires only conquest)

The gems are forced to "meet" all 6 new personalities while attempting to fix Peridot, their attempts work but Peridot's suicidal feelings remain after.

the episode was made but never aired as Rebecca Sugar herself said it "didn't fit with the shows themes" and it was stored in the archives, assets were reused for other characters and objects in the show.

An example of the reused assets is the weapon "Breaking Point", the design was partly salvaged from the design for the Chain Breaker.
