The thing is - I want to make a vertical arena where you can freely go up and down, as enemies chasing you or whatever. It did not work for area this large so I downgraded it. Yeah I kinda did not even think about ladders and that some have collision and some not.
At least, you can fight as long as you want (if there still some spawners left), and only then proceed to the next area. If you tired - you can go literally any second. This is not metropolis - you're not forced to play this area if you dont like it.
Well, it's all exuses, really. It was a long way to release, some work done good, some worse. There is no middle ground with my old projects.
And, anyway. thank you for your quick reviews and I hope you exprienced a little bit of joy while playing.
Just went in and played the cinematic. It's still a bit cryptic as you have to enter one of the buildings which has no indication of being possible outside of the vague camera pan. Every other building in the level has doors you can't open and there's vary little visual distinction with this one. Also having some ladders you can climb and others that you can't is inconsistent in terms of game design.
Once I used the intended route I ended up easily skipping the battle in like 15 seconds as the monsters on the ground couldn't get to me. Which is a bit confusing because the battle on the streets was actually the fun part, but the intended route makes you skip it? It also kind of defeats the purpose of expanding the suburbs if you just walk past everything. Lmao.
5/10 not enough street battle.
There's a section where you need to use ladders to get on top of the suburb buildings in order to progress. However, none of the ladders work (except for the one close to the hole in the wall) as they are too steep. So after I killed all the enemies, I spent 1000 years running around, trying to figure out what the map wanted me to do. After a while I enabled turbo mode and jumped on top of the building cause I noticed they had tiny wooden walkways on them and then I noticed that this whole time I was supposed to get on top through the non- working ladders. Honestly just let the player jump on some boxes to get to the buildings.
