Star Trek Academy Trainer by mattdanw

This is my third build for Starship Evo. This is to scale as much as possible given the limitation of available source material from its one and only TV appearance in the TNG Episode, the First Duty. I imaged that the Academy Trainer was a repurposed fighter/interceptor craft originally, so I’ve focused on ensuring that it has great subliminal speed. It can get to 300ms when crossing the inner diameter of the ‘halo ring’.

I’ve made a few changes here and there, most notably is the rear end of the ship, that I had to modify for the appropriate inclusion of large thruster so that this ship can go to ‘warp’. The other major change was the position of the cockpit. This should have been about one full block forwards. This was little more than a design omission/ oversight on my part, that I didn’t notice until it’s very final stages. Redesigning it would have required more effort than reward, so I just left it as is.

Any suggestions for improvements would be great and will be implemented in later revisions of this design and future projects. My next vessel is going to be the Peregrine Class Federation Attack Fighter.
