Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (Fictional)

Description
The main orthodox Cathedral for the fictional city of Ingsvall, located in north Eastern Europe. The cathedral represents a Russian revivalist style, that was used widely in the Russian empire from the late 19th centry up untill the Russian revolution.

These kinds of churches were a very common sight in the Russian colonies of Eastern Europe. Since due to the Russification policies quite many new orthodox churches were built to dominate the skylines of several Eastern European cities. Most notably, Helsinki, Tallinn, and Warsaw. Where orthodox Cathedrals were erected in honour of the Russian Tšars, hence the name "Alexander Nevsky".

This Cathedral is based on the St. Pantaleon church in Kiev. It is not an exact copy, and there is some differences. But it is still pretty much the same.

Due to it's medium size, this church is perfect for small towns, and big cities alike. It can also be used in quite many western cities, like Paris as the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

simplify it for the LOD model - make domes maybe not square but with 8 sides, resembling something a bit rounded from afar... change them simply to pyramids (just add some more sides so they have than 4 sides); those crosses on top - no one will see them anyway so just remove them.
same with those 4 towers (i think they can be called towers ;))
the rest of the temple - just make simple blocks, no detailing at all. you can check some large buildings in game first when you zoom out, what you actually can see yourself (very helpful will be Mesh Info mod as it will tell you how many tris has got that model - both the main model and its LOD), compare that to your own model and its size, make a judgement and start making LOD.
When u save it as a LOD (see wiki website for more details) it will be automatically used in-game when you zoom out.

Yeah, the main body of the building doesn't have quite many triangles itself. The problem is the dome, it has way too many triangles because I basically imported it from another model.

ah ok... not a problem.
what you could try when you have a moment is to make a copy of that model in that software you're using, make it more square (but not completely), remove any other details as no one will see them from the distance anyway (including any roudness or lack of it), windows, doors and any relief on walls - do as a picture of the main model and put it on your new defuse map.

And most likely you'll get a very nice and helpful version of it. If you zoom out your model in game... you'd probably have to have a PC screen the size of the wall of your room to see such details.

@macluk hah yes, I am new to asset creation, so there's quite many things I don't do in the most optimal manner.

looks beautiful... but the game engine doesn't like its tris weight :)
I'll wait for a lighter version... or a better CS ;)
